Parvo puppy watch

For those of you who saw my response last week on one of the "E" board threads and have been following along parvo puppy watch...  I just wanted to give you an update.

The girls ATE all by themselves late Saturday. That is an enormous victory.  Since then, they are eating full meals on their own every 3 hours, instead of being forcefed every 2 hours  They are showing a major increases in energy.  One of the girls is even chasing my rottweiler around the house.  Still have runny poo.. but, no more vomiting.  We are going to continue giving subq fluids for at least a few more days, but it seems as though we have turned the corner.

We are both very tired, but watching them eat by themselves gave us so much joy.  We both burst into tears.

We finally gave them names after their first vet visit.. I went to the vet with "unknown" on the "name" section of their vet paperwork... and that just made me so sad.  I couldn't let these little girls possibly die with no name.

So, with that said, please welcome Lola Marie and Gemma Jacqueline  (yes, we are crazy and all of our pets have middle names)

I'm glad to hear they're doing well! We also give our dogs middle names -- we have Bellamy Percival Octavius Rex, Zoe Lucille and Freya Chester.

  • Great news! We gave our cats middle names too :)

  • Glad to hear they're doing well. Pax actually goes by his middle name. His real name is Orion Pax

Our dogs are split in the surname department. I had Bellamy and Zoe prior to meeting my fiance, so they have my last name. Freya has his last name because we adopted her together last year.

I love how much we all treat our pets as our children, haha. They are really our legit babies. Freya even has a baby blanket that she requires burrito-ing in to go to sleep every night.

  • I think we are the only English Bulldog owners who didn't give our dog a middle name.  He's just Chef D.  D doesn't stand for anything.

Glad the pups are doing better.   Parvo was one of my biggest fears.  That stuff is scary.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Glad the pups getting better!

My Olive used to go with my maiden name but we have since changed her last name to my married name.  So she is now Olive Oil MarriedName and I consider my H to be Olive's step dad - even though she never had any other human dads!  "Oil" is weird for a middle name, but it's only used when she's bad!

I LOVE these names. (my daughter is Jackie) :)

My male Boxer is Deedre Jr. DeAnda so we call him DJ and our girl is Daisy Roxy DeAnda :)
We wanted their initials to be DD. :)
  • I didn't see your OP since I was on vacation all last week, but I just wanted to say I'm glad your pups are doing better.  They are so cute!
