So I had asked for some adivce on what I should do about walking down the aisle. Someone mentioned that I could have my dad (or stepdad ) walk me down the aisle and have the other do the father/daughter dance. I thought this was a great idea, so I wrote my dad an email and asked him which would mean more to him. Now I'm regretting that and wish I could take it back.
My dad is being his usual douchtastic self. He called me the other day and was acting all depressed. He brought up the aisle/dance thing and just sighed, he said if it were up to him he would get to do everything, but if he has to choose he wants to walk me down the aisle because he "obviously doean't want to give up his right as my father"
This kind of bothered me. He has been a jerk to me my entire life, and I don't feel its his "right" to do anything at my wedding unless I want him to.
Now I had wanted my step-dad involved, but now I'm not so sure about that either, something happened the other night that caused me to lose a lot of respect for him. I went shopping for jewelry with my mom and went back to their house for dinner, he came into the kitchen and this was the conversation (you should know he is one of those people who will find EVERY opportunity to talk about politics, if he can bring Obama into a conversation, he will do it in a heartbeat):
Step-dad: you would be so proud of me
Mom: Why's that?
SD: my sister commented on my facebook status saying I was being too cruel to Obama. I wrote her back, but than I deleted it.
Mom: Why does your sister think your being too cruel?
SD: because our mother brought us up to be nice to the blacks, so any n**** can go doing whatever they want.
At that point my mom cut him off. He just scoffed and mentioned that I was frowning at him. All I could think to do was just raise my hands and say "I have no comment"
I was just so shocked at his comment, and I don't think I can look at him the same way again. I don't really think I want to honour either of them at my wedding.
