Farewell brunch....

We are wanting to have a farewell brunch since our wedding is approx. 3 hrs from our hometowns and will be nearby our honeymoon destination. We would like to keep it somewhat small  without hurting feelings how do we go about inviting people and excluding some?

My MOH suggested slipping a note inside invites of those that we want included in this brunch, but how do I handle others feeling left out or hurt if they were to find out they weren't invited?

Our wedding is being hosted at my aunt and uncle's home with our reception in their barn  and that is where our brunch would be as well.... Any ideas?

That's pretty difficult. Wedding guests will talk and it's possible that some people who are not invited to the brunch will ge their feelings hurt.

If you're going to do this, then I'd suggest drawing a very clear line - such as immediate family and wedding party only. When boundaries are clear it's easy to explain if you're approached about it.

I'd probably send separate invitations for the bruch a little closer to the wedding instead of sending them with the actual invitations.
