Weekend plans?

Gosh it's quiet here!

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Assuming snow doesn't shut down the entire state of NC, I'm getting my hair cut tonight, and then tomorrow going to Mr. Heels' cousin's 7th birthday party tomorrow at the bowling alley (I love bowling, even though I'm terrible at it!).

Re: Weekend plans?

  • Tonight is FI's company Christmas party.  I have some friends going out for karaoke afterwards, but I think I might be too tired.  Tomorrow I'm going to try another attempt at Christmas cookies (last weekend was a bit of a disaster), then get everyone's gifts packed up and ready to mail out.  Sunday I probably won't do much, except pick up FI from work and see our weekly movie.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I'm driving to Knoxville to drop the kid off and then I'm... uh, not a whole helluva lot.  Maybe a movie.  More than likely sleep.  My shopping will be finished tomorrow -- it's weird to have finished so early.

  • I missed your cookie disaster.  What happened?

I had a fudge disaster a few weeks ago.  I blame the cheap foil my husband's been buying at the dollar tree.
  • FI's play continues tonight and tomorrow, so we will be at the theatre.  I work tomorrow 12n-5pm. Then FI's mom & stepdad come in on Sunday so we will spend some time with them.  Depending on what time we are meeting up, I may be able to squeeze a batch of cookies in. And I need to get stuff wrapped. And clean. GAHHH!

  • I didn't post about it.  I tried making spritz cookies, but apparently my spritzer is really cheap because it kept popping the barrel loose instead of pushing the dough through the die, and the dough was too crumbly to do anything else with it.  I also kept discovering ingredients that I was missing, even though I made a thorough list before I started and went shopping for everything we didn't have.

It was nice to christen my new stand mixer (early Christmas gift from Mom woo!), but it would be nicer to successfully finish a damn recipe with it.  This is my first year attempting to make the Christmas cookies, and they're more difficult than I anticipated.

  • I have graduation and stuff with my family this weekend.  My robe is all ironed and hanging up at home.

  • I'm going out to dinner tonight w/my BFF and our men.  Apparently, Maggiano's is giving away free wine.

Tomorrow, I'm doing all the rest of the Christmas shopping.  It's going to be a nightmare, but I don't have much left.  Then I have to put together the dinner stuff for our Christmas Angel.  (We adopted an ederly woman this year, and we bring her dinner and presents on Monday.)  Then we'll wrap everything and maybe make some cookies.

Sunday is the big Christmas with my parents.  They're going out of town, so we're celebrating early.  We're going over in the morning and probably staying all day.
  • I'm working from 3-11 tonight.  Then meeting up with everyone else for a friend's b-day.

Tomorrow - working all day, then have DH's work xmas party

Sunday - FOOTBALL.  It's is one of my last days off before the craziness of xmas-new yeas weeke.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • FI's annual family Christmas party was supposed to be today, but due to the snow in NJ, they cancelled it last minute (So the next time I'm now seeing the FILs ... they're going to be just ILs-eep!).

We then tried to go to the movies, but the roads where horrible, so we turned around and went home.

We're now playing Wow and watching a Married With Children marathon, eating Pizza Rolls (The only food in the house) ... we're losers, lol.
