I need advice!!!!???

My fiance and I are both working fulltime, in school full time, AND in the Army National guard and doing 6 hours of ROTC training a week. We have 3 semesters left until we graduate after we complete this fall semester. We have our wedding date set for August 2011 BUT!! we BOTH feel so overwhelmed with everything we have going on that we are wondering if we should postpone the wedding until the summer of 2012 instead?????? What do you guys think?

Part of me thinks that we are ALWAYS going to have something going on so why wait, but part of me is thinking we are going to go to Mexico, get married, spend our honeymoon in Mexico and then come back and start back to the hectic schedule 10 days later...??=/

We have been together four years tomorrow and have lived together 3 so I don't know how different being married is really going to feel but I envision wanting to come back from the honey moon and enjoy being married not stressing about my new classes!??

Please give me your thoughts!!Embarassed

  • There's always going to be stress, so I don't think that postponing it for that reason alone is a good reason to do so.  There's a lot that can happen in that year between your potential dates; who's to say that something else won't be going on that's more stressful or that prevents you from travelling to Mexico (babies/health problems/job loss/etc.?)  Most people have their wedding, go on their HM (if they take one immediately after the wedding) and then go right back to everyday life.  It's not like you come home, sit around the house and ogle your new husband for days at a time.

That being said, planning a wedding on top of everything else will be added stress; doing a DW may or may not ease that burden.  If you have your heart set on the 2011 date, I suggest that you hire a wedding planner to help you maintain your sanity.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Ditto Tide. There will ALWAYS be something going on. I wish I had been able to have 10 days to enjoy the beginning of married life.BUT. I did not. We got married, had 2 days to ourselves and had to get back to normal life. Sucks. But it is, what it is.

  • Yeah, not sure how much more or less stress you'll have after graduation. What happens with your military commitments after you graduate? Do you immediately get an assignment? Obviously you'd know more about this so this may be a stupid question but wouldn't be worse to wait until you're serving full-time because you schedule and location are much more unpredictable when you're serving in the military wheras in ROTC they're more limited in what they can have you do because they can't just make you move or miss classes?
  • Very good points girls!! Thanks so much for all of the input!!
