Rehersal Questions

my wedding is still a year away but I am in paying the deposit for my venue at the end of the month.
If we need to rent the hall the day before for the wedding for the rehearsal I have to include that in the price of the rental and I need to figure out how long I need to rent the hall for. I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how long their rehearsal because I have no idea how long I should tell the coordinator I need to rent the hall for on the Friday. :)

1.How long did it take for you to do the wedding rehearsal?
2. What is done during the rehearsal?
3. who needs to be there?
4. Could the rehearsal be done in a small church?

Our rehearsal was 45 minutes, and we could have used the hour.  But our ceremony was a catholic mass with a lot of elements and the priest took 30 minutes just walking us through the elements.

Typically, you work out who's going to walk up in what order, show people where to stand, letter readers know their que to come up, etc.  Everyone involved in the ceremony should be there, but if you have a WP member or two that can't make it, someone can always catch them up on the day of.  Professional muscians don't usually come either, they normally rehearse on their own.

To be safe, I'd plan an hour.  Unless there is something specific and weird about the venue, there's no reason you couldn't do the rehearsal in the room with the RD or in a park right before it and save that extra rental fee.  If you have a church you want to use, that would work fine.
  • 1.How long did it take for you to do the wedding rehearsal? Ours took about 30 minutes
    2. What is done during the rehearsal? We walked through the entire ceremony from the BM walking down the aisle to the actual ceremony and then the recessional.
    3. who needs to be there? Anyone that's participating in the actual ceremony
    4. Could the rehearsal be done in a small church? Ours was done in the chapel where the ceremony was held. If it had not been available we could have done it in another location. The only thing that was good about doing it at the actual location is figuring out the logistics of where people would stand on the stage, but we could have totally winged that the day of, not a big deal at all.
