Veil issues

My sister recently got married and while we were talking, she explained that she's exciting to be passing her veil on for me to use as my something borrowed for my big day.  Problem is, I have no intentions on wearing a veil, was just planning on wearing a headpiece with some jewels in it to add a little flair as my dress is not exactly traditional.  Should I tell her I do not want to wear the veil and hurt her feelings or do I agree to wear it and kind of meet in the middle by wearing her veil for the ceremony and then opting for my hairpiece for the reception?

Re: Veil issues

  • That's a little presumptive of her...I would be annoyed!

Anyhow, if you're not planning on wearing a veil, don't compromise on that. Explain to her that you're flattered, but that it doesn't go with the rest of your attire, but that you'd love to borrow some of her jewelry so that you can wear something of hers on your big day.
  • It's your wedding, and if you don't want to wear a veil, you shouldn't have to. Obviously be sensitive to your sister about the issue, but maybe you can think of something else that she wore that day that you would like to borrow.
