Patterns for Christening gowns?

I am wanting to turn my wedding dress into a christening gown after my wedding. Has anyone else ever seen this done or thinking of doing this? Does anyone have any patterns or know of where to buy a pattern for this anywhere? I know I don't want my dress sitting in the closet for years and years and would love to turn it into a different kind of family heirloom.

I think it's a nice idea. You could also save the scraps for other things. I'm turning my mom's gown into a garter for myself and my sister. I'll probably make a handkerchief too. She doesn't want it to go to waste, and a little too short, tight, and 80's for both my sister and I.
