Tie or not?

My daughter is getting married in Oct. She told all her bridesmaids and MOH that they can pick their own style of dresses as long as it's DB Latte short dresses. All the guys are wearing Cranberry shirts with khaki pants. Should the grrom be dressed differently than the rest of the guys? Should any of them wear a tie? If so what color/ style? Her uncle is a groomsmen and was picking on her that he was going to wear a black bowtie. It got me thinking about what they should wear.

I fear you're going to get some flack on this. As much as we mothers want to help and advise, this is a topic we need to stay away from. It is up to the groom to select the men's clothing.
  • I'm not trying to take over and tell them what to wear but my daughter asked my opinion in the grooms attire and the ties. I told her I weren't sure. The groom said he didn't care just tell him what to wear, when and where and he would be there.

  • Grooms rarely care! :)

This sounds like a very casual wedding...am I right?  What does the groom plan on wearing?

[QUOTE]If the bride is wearing a floor length flormal gown, the men should really dress up a bit more.  I would suggest khaki pants and a black or navy blazer worn with a light colored shirt and cranberry tie. The groom should wear the same level of formality as the groomsmen.

I agree with this.  I think it will look a lot sharper than just khaki's and a shirt.  I think many guests may be more dressed up than the GM if the GM/groom doesn't have a jacket.
