chiffon pocket squares?

our groomsmen won't be wearing bouts but will instead wear aqua pocket squares.
my BMs will also all get their dresses hemmed because they are tea length and i'd like them shorter.
so i was thinking, what if i used the scraps from their dresses to make pocket squares so they would match exactly.
the dresses are chiffon, and i'm not sure what the lining is...do you think that would be an odd fabric choice for squares?

these are the dresses:

Re: chiffon pocket squares?

  • Yes. Chiffon is not stiff enough to hold a shape when it's tucked into the pocket. But by all means, experiment with the scrap material and see if you like what you come up with.

My BM's wore similar chiffon dresses, and the GM's wore the satin pocket squares that came with the tuxes (we also skipped the bouts) and it looked great. I always feel bad for the guys who have to wear bouts, it looks so silly for guys to wear flowers pinned to their jackets and it's a waste of money IMHO.
  • You could probably find a way to stiffen it, maybe with starch or hairspray or something like that.  I would recommend picking up some scrap chiffon from a fabric store and playing around with it.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • all good ideas ladies!

i'm  definitely going to play around with it. the chiffon might not work, but the lining underneath the chiffon will probably work better and be the same color.

they also arent going to be like legit squares that could be reused and folded into different ways...it'll have to be just for show for the day because i wont have enough fabric
