I need a hair intervention

I've been growing my hair out for over a year now for this stinkin' wedding. I really love long hair looks, and I can't/won't pay for extensions. But I really really really want to cut my hair. As in, I almost called my hairstylist yesterday to get the big chop done and over with. I have 9 months to go before the wedding. Help me stop. Especially when all I can think about is hair like this:

Last fall I donated 10" then took off another 2" for the style, my hair was almost to my butt. In the course of 10 months took off another 4", so right now I have the bob cut, similar to the picture...I've decided to grow it out for the wedding, but all I want to do right now is put it up in a ponytail. It takes longer to style in the morning, my hair wants to flip out at the bottom instead of curling under, and I can't throw it up. If you really can't get the idea out of your head, go get a trim or update your hairstyle slightly.

Although it's an adorable cut, you've been growing your hair out for over a year for the wedding!!!  I honestly think that you'll kick yourself in the bootie if you cut it now. Wait until after the wedding and treat yourself to a little "Mrs. cut" after your big day. Maybe you can treat yourself to a little honeymoon papering and get a nice cut on your honeymoon.  Another thing to think about is will you want to look back in 20 years and see yourself in a beautiful gown with a super trendy hairstyle? Don't get me wrong, the cut is amazing and will look fabulous on you but just think about it for a minute. I waited almost 2 years to really cut mine and a few days after we got home from our honeymoon I chopped it and it felt so good! I loved my wedding day hair and I am so happy that I waited (plus DH would have killed me if I cut my long hair before the wedding!) Good Luck Chica, stay strong!!!!!

I wish I could be more helpful, but I'm having the same issue. I haven't cut my hair since May and it's killing me! I haven't had it this long since I graduated high school! If you can do it, I'll do it with you and then after the wedding(s) we can go have it all chopped off! Think how good that will feel. :-)

I'm having the same problem! I want to chop mine so bad! My MOH is a hairdresser and I'm going to ask her if she can chop it the day after the wedding (day before we leave for our honeymoon!)

I think mine is long enough to donate already, so that's really what's giving me the itch. If I had a few more inches to go before the minimum length, I'd be all about growing it still. You're right though, candi, I will regret a cut when I look at my wedding pictures. Thanks! cg- I say July 18 we find a place and get a post wedding chop together, haha. I seriously am sick of wearing my hair one of three ways. It doesn't hold curls well unless it's for an event (i.e. lots of hairspray!), so I have it down, pinned back, or in a ponytail. I'm glad I'm not alone!

I completely feel your pain, my hair is soooo long and thick it's driving me nuts! I am getting a tiny trim to clean it up this weekend and want to talk wedding styles then and see if I really need all of this length. I love the idea of getting a cut on the honeymoon! I might just have to do that or right when I get back. You can do it! Hang in there!

I def went through the same thing.. I have always had shorter hair (shoulder length) but wanted to grow it out for the wedding.  I would go for "trims" when I was really getting sick of it, and my hair dresser even did long layers towards the end when I really couldn't deal to make it feel lighter and at least feel like a new style. GL.. talk to your hair dresser to see what she can do .. you may be able to cut an inch or two or do some layers to change it up a bit but still keep it long enough for an updo.

I am a little late on this but, my hair is getting so long too and I am so annoyed with it. I barely wear it down because it takes to long to dry/straighten, so I wear it up in one of styles. I can't even wear ponytails anymore because its so long and I hate the way it looks! I think I am going to get a trim soon since I still have about a year before the wedding And I love the pic you posted, very cute. And just hang in there! Maybe a trim or something as girls suggested
