Champagne colored wedding dress, now what?

Please help!! I just picked out a champagne wedding dress, a color I was not expecting! I am at a complete loss as to wedding colors.  Any suggestions as to what color flowers would be best for me to carry, as well as what color maids dress I should pick? Comments and photos would be much appreciated! My wedding is May 2013.

Re: Champagne colored wedding dress, now what?

  • I think champagne is beautiful, and neutral enough that you can go with any colors you want.  Jewel tones would look awesome, and pastels would look great too.  I've always loved how champagne, pink, and chocolate brown look together.   But there are really an endless number of combinations that would look fabulous.

  • I'm with the PP the jewel tones and dark tones would look stunning!
  • Thank you for the responses!! They are greatly appreciated :)
  • It's totally dependant on what you like, but I'd love champagne with jewel tones!

My dress is ivory over champagne, and I'm doing dark purple and black.

Find a colour close to champagne to search, and it'll show you different palette ideas :)    I saw people using it on Pinterest and it helped me pick out my wedding colours!

I think Champagne is close enough to neutral that you can choose whatever colors you like.
  • I had the same problem I bought champagne and ivory dress. At first i was trying to match everything. Basically it is a neutral color and not as dark as you think it is in the grand scheme. I am just staying away from silver since i was worried about clashing unless you were trying to do all metallic tones. Im doing bright purple (plum) and chartuesue (lime green) and shades of these colors - tropical theme.
    Anything goes!

Ditto, I love champagne, my vote is ' modern and elegant ' ;-)
Not being able to govern events, I govern myself, and apply myself to them, if they will not apply themselves to me.
  • I associate champagne dresses with evening/night time, winter weddings, not garden spring weddings.

But you have choice in your colours and when to have your wedding regardless of colour - whatever you want :)

  • I chose a champagne color as well and am having a vintage/romantic wedding theme.  I am considering the following colors:  cranberry (shoes and jewelry) or pearl, earthy shimmery green, or royal blue!  My wedding is in April which is spring and though these colors are not springy, I kinda like that!  Good luck and Congratulations~
  • This thread is from a year and a half ago. She probably has it worked out by now.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Me too I have the same problem! Except I have already bought my bridesmaids dresses.. and they're pale blue from J.Crew, So I have to change my palette of pale blue-coral-sage green... think I'm going with a pale blue/peach/blush palette for my early August Country Club wedding.

  • I like champagne with "dusty" or "antique" variants of colors.  Dusty rose, dusty blue, desaturated purple, ivory, brown, beige, etc.
  • I think you can go from pastels or brighter spring colors. Personally I like brighter colors. I had a champagne dress myself. To help me figure out my colors I took a bunch of bridesmaid dresses in the different colors I was considering and held them up to my dress and decided from there which colors I liked best against my dress.
