Buy Wedding Band Online?

Has anyone purchased their wedding bands online? I've been looking at sites like overstock.com, and ice.com for possible options and their prices look really great in comparison to the designer band that would pair with my engagement ring. I'm looking for a band with diamonds (aren't we all...) or an eternity band, either will be VERY thin to go with my e-ring. Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone has every done this, and if so, where did you shop, would you recommend? Thanks for all your help!

Re: Buy Wedding Band Online?

  • I've been considering this too and have looked all over and it's hard to decide what's a good price for quality, etc.  My friend who is getting married this summer bought her and her FI's bands from amazon.com and she was very happy with them (and she researched and the diamonds were conflict-fre, etc).  I am not sure of the seller off amazon, but I've bought other things from amazon and have been happy.  Never considered amazon for wedding bands until she mentioned it though... it was highly recommended to me from her.

  • I bought DH wedding band on amazon.  I couldn't have been happier with it!  We actually bought a couple because we weren't sure which one he was actually going to like.  We then returned the other one.  It actually saved us like $500, because similar bands at jewelry shops were that much more!

Although I would make sure that you get the rings insured even if you don't spend that much on them.... LIke DH band was only $300 but the insurance is only $5 a year!  So for just in case he looses it I figure it's well worth it!

  • My FI swears by amazon. He found the same wedding bands that were in the store for 250300 for about 30. He ordered one and didn't like the color and returned. Shipping is free to return and they notified him within a day that they received his return. He's going to keep looking on Amazon.
  • We thought about purchasing online, but ended up getting a great deal at Zales.  I think it was one of their sale weekends.  We got both rings for under $1000, and mine has channel-set diamonds (retailed for $900 on its own before the sale price).

Definitely shop around though.  In 20 years you probably won't remember or care where your rings came from.  One thing to keep in mind, though, is that if your does have diamonds you might want to have it regularly inspected to make sure the diamonds are secure -- if you do this at the store you bought it at, then if anything happens they should replace it/fix it.   Overstock can't do that....

  • We just bought both of our bands from amazon and we couldn't be happier. FI's is a tungsten carbide, and mine is a half eternity band. They both look great!

I was going to order from Overstock, but between beginning to look around and then actually deciding, they raised their jewelry prices. They do have an optional jewelry protection plan that you can buy that isn't too expensive, but I'm not sure what you get with that.
  • It's hard with diamond bands to tell if what you're getting is good quality for the price. I got FI's band on Etsy, but it's easier with mens.

If you do go with online, i'd check their return policies before purchacing JIC.
  • My engagement ring and our bands came from bluenile.com. Very happy with the rings and their service.

  • Thanks for the tip on Amazon! I just found the exact wedding band I was looking for. White gold, channel set, round diamonds and for only $259. Um, yeah I'm so excited right now Laughing

Both DH's rings are from overstock. I highly recommend them.

  • We bought my H ring from an ebay store.  We are really happy, it was much cheaper than anywhere else we looked.  I only looked at stores which had really high ratings and ones which excepted returns.

We bought my ring at a vintage shop, I got a great deal since it was used.
  • I used a living social deal to buy my FI's ring from Bluenile.com. He loves it and we're happy to have saved the money.

  • We got my engagement ring from Amazon and his wedding band.  We loved his ring, but it was too big.  I just sent it back via UPS today and we should have the right size within the next two weeks.  I also just ordered a Wedding set for myself yesterday after I sent back the band that (unfortunately) didn't go with my engagement ring.  Be wary of it because sometimes they look different from the pictures.  But it's definitely a great alternative when looking for a ring.  Amazon has been the least expensive route for me.  I compared a few rings between Amazon and Overstock and Amazon had the lower price for the ring I was looking at.  Good luck!
