Stretching out new shoes

Hi all! I bought my wedding shoes a couple months ago, and they're very comfortable. Well, that was until I rolled my foot/ankle at my cardio class and my foot became swollen up (it's been puffy for over three weeks now). I can squeeze my foot into the shoe, but it's a tight fit. I've been wearing them around the house to break them in, but the strap isn't really giving. Any suggestions on how to stretch it out a little bit more so my foot fits in slightly better?

Re: Stretching out new shoes

  • Put on thick athetic socks and then put your foot in the shoe when you walk around.  Or, buy shoe stretchers and let them sit over time.  Depending on the material, though, there may not be much give.

  • How far away is your wedding?  Have you spoken to your doctor about the swelling going down by then?  I would just hate for you to stretch out your shoe and then it would be too big.

PP did provide a good suggestion on how to stretch it, though.

  • We are putting shoe stretchers in mine.  I have a foot injury that just hasn't finished healing all the way (foot injuries take a long time to return to normal), so my right foot is more swollen than my left foot.  It's a bit frustrating, but I just wear them with socks on from time to time, and keep the shoe stretchers in them, and they're JUST about perfect now.  Good luck!!

<div>This is what I did, except with big, fuzzy winter socks. Worked like a charm. But if the swelling continues, definitely see a doctor.</div>
