Is this okay?

I am 5'2 and plan on wearing a heel around 3 inches.

4 of my bridesmaids are between 5'7-5'11. I plan on letting them choose  any shoe of their choice. Is it okay to ask them to also keep it a short heel?

Is this silly to ask?  I am use to being the shorty of the group =] but I was hoping to be in their range for pictures at least.

Thanks ladies!

Re: Is this okay?

  • I don't think it's rude to ask, as long as you do it nicely and don't insist.  You could playfully toss it out that if they didn't mind, it would be cool if they could choose low or mid-height heels, but they don't have to.  I actually purchased my BM's shoes with a 2-inch heel so they wouldn't tower over some of the groomsmen haha.  I figured they couldn't complain if I bought it for them.  ;)
  • Unless you want some serious stripper platforms, I don't think any shoe you wear will put you in their height range even if they're all wearing flats.

Just let it go.  If you're concerned about the way it will look, tell your photographer, and I'm sure he'll find the right angles to make you and your ladies look awesome.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Like some previous posters have mentioned, I don't think shoe height will make or break your pictures. But I understand your issue (I'm a little bit freakishly taller than my friends) so I don't think it's an outrageous request, especially since you're letting them pick their own shoe.

I think the only exception would be if someone already has silver/gold/whatever color shoes with a taller heel, it might be sort of a pain for them to have to go out and buy the same shoe they already own just with a lower heel.
  • i don't think it will matter much either.  and i doubt if they are that tall that they are going to buy 5 inch heels anyway.  let them choose what they will be comfortable in.
