would you wear this dress

ok i need some opinions ladies, i'm new here but i need help! i was going to wear my sister's wedding dress next year, not because i am unable to buy my own, or even because it's "the dress" but purely for the sentimental value of that "something old" i liked the idea of being in the same dress she was married in. and then preserve it for my future sister in law, or my daughter or my neice. however, my sister has just informed me that she is now getting a divorce, and that she was on the rebound when she got married 8 years ago. She also said the only reason she's been married this long is the "stay together for the kid" syndrome. and all of a sudden the dress isn't valuable to me anymore. i kind of feel its tainted in a way. is there something wrong with me? i mean this is a $1,500 demetrio's gown btw, and a very nice dress, but it just dosen't feel right anymore PS: she is my maid of honor as well, it's just weird to me to wear it sorry for the novel, hope some of you can help. all opinions to wear or not to wear are greatly appreciated

Re: would you wear this dress

  • I am in a similar situation.  I want to fulfill the traditions by asking those important to me to contribute to them.  However, the people closest to me are not married, divorced, or staying together for the kids.  I have decided to still ask them to fulfill them though but in a small way.  This way I can still show my appreciation and honor our bond/relationship.  I will be using jewelry, a piece of my mothers dress to make a label in mine with our names & date on it (with blue lettering for my something blue), etc.I think the last thing you want the day of your wedding is a bad vibe.  If you are unsure now you could very well end up regretting it the day of your wedding and have no other choice.  If I were you, I would keep trying on dresses and perhaps you will find the one that you just know is the one.  If it is a financial issue look for sales.  Best Wishes!
