Red shoes with ivory wedding dress?

I really want to wear red shoes with my wedding dress. I know as soon as I tell my mom this, she'll flip--she's very traditional and wants me to wear shoes that match my dress. So I just wanted to get some thoughts from everyone. Is red a no-no? Will anyone even see the shoes? I think they'll look great in pics, plus I'm going to have a red rose bouquet.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE colored shoes with wedding gowns. They WILL look great in pics, especially with the red bouquet too. Most likely, the shoes won't even be visible during the ceremony, so your mom will be happy. During the reception & dancing, it will be adorable with red shoes.

I think you should! I plan on wearing either bronze or green. Definetly no white, I'd like to wear them again sometime!

I wore pink so obviously I love colored shoes with wedding dresses .  You should wear whatever you want.  Most likely, no one will notice what color they are anyway, but they'll look cute in pictures.

Wearing colored shoes with your dress is totally the in-thing right now.  Lots of people wear shoes the color of their bridesmaid dresses.  I think it's your special day, and you have to feel comfortable in what you are going to wear.

I am wearing ice blue shoes (december wedding) and my bridesmaids are all wearing red shoes with black dresses..you can do whatever you want! My mom was very confused when I brought home my blue shoes, but weddings are so much different than they used to be, there's no magic wedding formula, you can do whatever you want! and you will be happy you did in the end!I think the red shoes/red roses will look AWESOME together. and unless your dress is hemmed too short, they won't be visible unless you pull your dress up to show them off!

red shoes will look fabulous! i told my mom i was thinking about wearing metalic gold shoes and she flipped too - she couldnt wrap her mind around non-white bridal lol. i think it is a great, fun way to have a pop of color to your bridal ensemble and still wear a traditional white/ivory gown. plus, any color goes with a white dress. people will see them, but it will be subtle. i think its a more creative way to pop color into your outfit than a sash.

I love the idea, and it really does look great to have that hidden splash of color. If it is still a point of contention between you and your mother, you could always compromise and wear an ivory or natural shade of shoe for the ceremony, and save the pop of color for photos and the reception. I have ordered an ivory dress and was thinking about doing the same thing. My bouquet will be red & orange & I wanted to get red shoes. My dress is a silk chiffon sheath style with sweep train, so I want to make sure they won't show through during the ceremony. Go for it!

Both my mom and MIL gave me quite a look when I told them I was planning on wearing blue shoes. I found some Steve Madden jewel royal blue ballet flats and they're SO cute. Can't wait to wear them..red will look great too!

No I might go for that look too. My bridesmaids will have red dresses and silver shoes.

I say rock on with your bad self and wear the shoes that make you happy. It is, after all is said and done, your wedding and I'm sure your mom will understand once she realizes how happy it will make you. I personally plan to have bridal sneakers for part of my reception to take stress off my feet and so what if people are looking at my feet

I am wearing red shoes with my ivory dress, to match my bridesmaids. My mother is completely against the idea and has asked a bunch of times when I am going to get shoes to match the dress!I bought a cheap pair of ivory ones and then I will change into my fabulous red ones for the reception, I think.~Julie
