Light In The Box

I've fallen in love with this beautiful dress that i found online at a sight called lightinthebox.com, it's a chinese wholesaler. I've seen lots of good reviews, a few bad, I've even seen pictures of customers in their dresses that they ordered from there and there is a "custom sizing" option where you send your exact measurements that *should* minimize the need for any extensive alterations... And the big thing for me, right now, is that I haven't been able to find this dress or anything else like it, anywhere else. I've looked in several bridal salons and on other websites too...

Here's what it looks like: http://www.lightinthebox.com/Taffeta-Organza-A-line-Strapless-Chapel-Train-Evening-Dress-inspired-by-Taylor-Swift--FSD0338-_p66903.html

there are reviews and a customer photo or two underneath, if you scroll down. Does that make it any more legitimate?

I'm really leaning towards ordering this dress, but I'm nervous about spending almost $300 and not being satisfied with the dress. I don't have the budget to buy another one!  Am I crazy for even considering it?

Has anyone else had any experience ordering from lightinthebox.com?

  • I've seen both good and bad reviews from them as well, but in the end i thought it was not worth losing money that could been used on something else all because they are cheaper. That's how alot of those type of stores reel you in. They advertise very low prices and the quality of the item matches that very low price.... I personally wouldn't do it.

  • Thanks so much for recommending oncewed.com! There are some great dresses, and for cheaper than the one I was going to order from china!

I particularly like this one: http://www.oncewed.com/42411/used-wedding-dresses/size-8/1788/#email_seller_form

I have another question-- do you think something like this could be tinted green? dyed or something? where might I find someone who could do that?
  • Another site to check is preownedweddingdresses.com.  I don't know anything about dying dresses, I would check with a seamstress.

I also advise against buying from Chinese wholesale sites.  Unless you have an extra $300 to spare and plenty of time to find a different dress, don't go with Chinese manufacturers.
  • I bought from LITB. The dress was an excellent value, well constructed, and exactly what I wanted. I ordered with sufficient time as their instructions indicated, and all went perfectly smoothly.

I thought the reviews quite matched my experience.

  • You might also try recycled bride.  I think you can search by color on preowned wedding dresses.  Good luck.
