Need photographer advice!

I met with Dave from A Photographic Memory and although I like him, I've read mixed reviews.  I'd love to hear about photographers you've used and if you liked or disliked them.  I just haven't found anyone yet that I've loved.  Thanks!!

A few of us on this board have used Kevin Jacobus and I haven't seen a negative review yet. Fairly priced, great guy, and amazing photos. Worth checking in to, for sure. www.kevinjacobusphoto.com

I also used Kevin Jacobus for my wedding last night. He is a great guy and takes some FANTASTIC pictures. He is very reasonable in price too!

I did not use Dave for my wedding because DH and I used a family friend to save $$. IF I had it to do all over again I would hire Dave in a second! I did a Fearless Bridal Shoot with him and he was amazing. Very professional yet fun. He takes great shots. I do not think you will be disappointed with him!

As you know, we used Dave and Mandy for our wedding last year and were very happy with the entire process and outcome. That being said, not everyone clicks and you should keep looking until you find the right match for *you* and what you want. Who knows, APM might actually be right for you, but without chatting with a few other photographers, you might not feel comfortable just yet. Good luck!

I used John Gauvin who owns Studio One in Machester (studioonenh.com). We LOVED him and could not be happier with our photos. He's been in the business for a long time, so we really let him run the show. I'd HIGHLY recommend him. That being said, I've also worked with Kevin Jacobus and Dave from APM. I've enjoyed working with both of them. I completely agree with YayBananas....you should definitely check a few out and find someone you feel comfortable with because that is so important with a photographer.

I used Ali Rosa (alirosaphotography.com) She was fantastic! I highly recommend her. She is out of MA but travels. Take your time with choosing a photographer... I picked too early and turned out that they had awful awful reviews on TK, BBB, and other web reviews. So with 3 months to go before my wedding (we had booked this other company 2 years before the wedding for both Photo and Video - $1000 non-refundable deposit)... we searched for a new photographer. We were really lucky that Ali had just recently had a cancellation for our big day. I agree with PPs... make sure you click with them... and check out Ali! :)

I got to agree with Gabs about APM a great Fearless Bride shoot.  Amazing attention to detail and fun.We used Timeless Lens Photography. I chose them because they were just starting out at the time and I got two professional photogs.  My photos came out amazing but at the time I hadn't realized the risk I was taking with new photographers - I just got really lucky.  The one downside - they will take up the ENTIRE wedding if I let them.  PLUS they would do ANYTHING to get their shot (like asking guests to 'do that again' for the camera).  I was happy to see them go at the end of the night.Everytime someone posts a picture from Hinkley - I'm blown away. I've come to realize I like more of the 'over-processed' style (at the time of the wedding I thought I was impartial to style)

I agree with the others.  Keep meeting with photographers until you find one you click with, but don't let any one person's experience with anyone sway YOUR choice too much.  I've heard both sides to one particular photographer review, and completely side with the photographer - mistakes happen, and you're dealing with human beings.  I know I'm not 100% perfect at all times, and can't expect that from anyone else.  And, don't forget that there are two sides to every story. With that said, I have worked with Dave and APM since my wedding, and wish I could turn back the clock and hire them to do mine.  This is a big choice to make, your photos are what last beyond the big day, and the photographer will be with you almost as much as your FI that day...  Meet with plenty of options and go with your gut.

I agree with the others. Meet with many. The photographer will be in your face for the entire day, you need to click with them. I used Details by DiFranco in Salem/Londonderry. The were amazing!!!! I met with APM as well loved the photos then we found out the photos shown were Dave's. The problem was... he personally wasn't available for my date. When I asked about viewing the other photographers work, he could not provide me with anything. Big Red Flag for me.DiFranco was reasonable, great to work with, they took over 1200 photos.....and they offer reprint rights, so you can have your photos printed anywhere. Good luck with your search.

I too have heard mixed reviews with A Photographic Memory. We booked with Hinkley Photo a couple weeks ago so I can’t yet comment on my experience with them on our wedding day. But I can say they have been nothing short of FANTISTIC to work with. They are quite possibly the friendliest “vendors” we’ve met with yet. But putting aside their responsiveness, willing to work within our budget and just plain awesomeness (is that a word? Lol!)…their work is phenomenal! I have a bit of a background with photography …so I was very, very picky when it came to choosing a photographer. But when I saw some of their images on their website I KNEW they were the ones! Their talent blew me away and I HAD to have them capture our wedding.   I wanted to stay away from a photo company that seemed like a wedding factory. I’ve found that you get better service and results when you work with a vendor who is more of a small business and not a corporation.

We used Christine and Peter from Elizabeth Bradford Photography and loved them! They were great from making sure I had all my 'must have' photos taken to dancing on the dance floor with us! They were honestly two of the nicest people I have ever met :)www.elizabethbradfordphotography.comFor my pics: go to client viewing and enter password '090609'

I definitely agree about meeting with many photgs. I think one of the reasons why I love mine so much is that we got along so well! I knew I would feel comfortable with them and we would have a LOT of fun! :)

we used hinkley photo and (though i'm biased!) i think our photos are unbelievable. we are the first picture on their website actually! if you would like to see our entire proof gallery, i can send the link and password. definitely, definitely meet with several people. we met with a few, including tom gibbons who was wonderful and so sweet, but we just clicked with the hinkleys- we actually called them the same night we met with them to book them. there are also some teasers in my bio under "married".
