Casablanca 1891

I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS I HAVE ONLY BEEN TO DAVIDS BRIDAL TO TRY ON DRESSES AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING I FELL IN LOVE WITH. I WORE A SIZE 12 AT DAVIDS BRIDAL. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE CASABLANCA 1891 ONLINE AT FIRST AND BY PURE LUCK I STUMBLED ACROSS IT IN A STORE 6 HOURS NORTH OF MY HOME WHILE ON VACATION. IT WAS A FAR TOO BIG A SIZE 16. BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS..... HAS ANYONE TRIED ON BOTH A CASABLANCA DRESS AND A DAVIDS BRIDAL DRESS AND HOW DO THE SIZES COMPARE? IF I WERE TO ORDER IT WOULD A 12 WORK? IF I WERE TO PURCHASE THE SIZE 16 DRESS WOULD IT BE TO LARGE OF A SIZE DIFFERENCE TO ALTER WITHOUT RUINING SOMETHING? AND I GUESS DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS DRESS THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GET RID OF? http://www.casablancabridal.com/collections/view/2/300

Re: Casablanca 1891

  • I wore Casablanca 1894 - at the time my pant size was about a 10-12 and the size 12 dress fit me perfectly - I didn't need any alterations besides a bustle and a hem - I did try on both David's Bridal dresses and Casablanca however I lost weight after trying on the David's dresses to when I received my Casablanca so I can't give you a good comparison thereThe 1891 seems a bit more fitted around the hips than my dress was though so it is really hard to gauge - can you have someone take measurements and compare them to the Casablanca size chart to see which size it says? Also, if you tried on a 16 and it was way too big I don't see what the point of ordering a 16 would be - you obviously know you would at least wear one size down...

  • I wore a size 10/12 in DB and my Casablanca dress was a size 14. I am a size 10 up top and a size 12 in pants (the dress wasn't fitted past the waist so it wasn't because of my hips). If the store measured you for a 16 then you should order a 16.

  • I tried on a 16 because that was the only size they had. So far I have only been able to find the dress in a store in Northern California. I have not been able to find it anywhere around the inland empire. So I am going to have it ordered to a store so I can try it on again. I am just not sure what size I should have shipped to the store. They are going to charge me to have it shipped to the store and I want order a size I can alter. And thank you for making my link clickable! Haven't quite figured out how to do some of the technical things
  • and when I just happened to come across it while walking around the local mall. The sales clerk was kind enough to let me try a few dresses on without an appointment so the bridal consultant was not in the store. So I was not measured.
  • I am in LOVE with Casablanca #1851 (see siggy pic #1)! They are really well made dresses and very decently priced! I am a street size 10 but wore a 14 in that dress. I also tried on DB dresses (Oleg Cassini & DB styles)Again, I am normally a street size 10 and wore a size 12 in their dresses.  GL!

  • Your best bet is to be measured and go from there. You cant go by size anyway. At DB I was in plus sizes. I normally wear a 14, but my dress (Allure Bridals 8351) is an 18. I had to add a lace up back for extra room, but had to take in the bust
