Pearls Place Brides

Please tell me about your experience.  Did you order over the phone?  How did you decide your size?  Does the dress fit perfectly if you already got it?  Any advice/tips? Thanks!

Hey! I saw your reply to my post further down below but I just thought I'd reply here. I was hesitant at first too but after talking to co-workers and friends who ordered with them in the past I was reassured there really is no catch. It's just so much cheaper because there really is no "bridal salon experience". They order direct from the manufacture and there isn't any of the in between frills to jack up the price. I had my measurements taken by a seamstress and then called Pearl's Place to order. They gave me the exact measurement numbers on the Watters size chart so I could pick which size I wanted. I was 1" bigger than a 2, and 1" smaller than a 4 so I went with a 4 to be safe. They were SUPER helpful and so sweet. Like my post said, I got the dress SO quickly. I was told I would receive it before December, but I got it this week. It's in perfect condition and I am so pleased. I still have to have it altered because only a lucky few ladies fit in a size to a T, and since the dress is strapless and form fitting I want it to look perfect of course. :) Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Btw, Torrean is beautiful! They didn't have it at the Watters carrier in my area but I did eye it online for a while!

Kelsey thanks so much for the thorough response!  I'm a size 0/2 in everyday wear, and I took my own measurements and I pretty much fall into a 0 everywhere on the chart except the waist, I am between a 2 and 4 there so I'm wondering if I should just get the 2.  Do you think you could have gone with a 2, or would that have been tight?  Also, I know you said its cheaper because there is no bridal salon experience, but you can actually go into the place and try dresses on.  So that's the thing that got me thinking, and I read a lot of reviews online about people saying their salon experience was horrible.  But, I'm not going to the salon, I'm ordering over the phone so I don't have to worry about that! lol

Pearls Place is an actual store in New Orleans. They have a wonderful reputation for their phone orders. Their reputation for in store service and alterations are a different story. If the only thing you need them for is a dress then you have nothing to worry about.

Yes you can actually go in to the place and try dresses on but you aren't really "assigned" a consultant who walks you through everything, that contacts you and you can contact. FI's cousin who lives in the New Orleans got her dress there... she went in 5 times and had a different person every time. Which she found incredibly frustrating. She endured it for the price though. For me, I went to my local Watters carrier (a full on bridal salon) and tried on a bunch of Watters gown. I fell in love with Cabo, had my measurements taken and called up Pearl's Place. They sent it to me and I have a seamstress I am using for my alterations (that I know and trust because I have used her for years for altering my formal gowns). I didn't "need" the bridal salon experience, I didn't need the help of a consultant or the convenience of in salon alterations, dress steaming and delivery, etc. That wasn't worth $700+ more to me.

Oh I forgot to answer the size question... I wear a street size 0-4 (depending on the brand). I'd rather have to take the dress in than lose weight, as I'm already as small as I can/want to be.

kelsey I totally agree about not caring to have the "salon experience".  I've had that already at plenty of salons lol, and once I decide if I want the Watters gown for sure I will buy from Pearls Place.  It's a lot more comforting to hear other brides who have ordered and had no problem with the service or quality.  The dresses are not knock offs though, right?  I know that's a silly question because they are an authorized dealer, but I want to make sure Im getting an actual Watters gown.  Oh, and I posted a pic in my bio under gallery of the Torrean dress, and also another gown that I'm considering.  http://tinyurl.com/m4q5ux

LOL, no the gowns are actually from the designer. The dress has Watters tags, is in a Watters box and bag. I can't check out your bio right now because I'm at work and my computers block a bunch of sites :(

I am also a Pearl's Place bride and I am sooo excited to get my gown!  I just ordered it about 2 wks. ago and they said it should take about three months (hoping to get it sonner.)  I went to several bridal shops and tried on gowns, and ended up loving a Mori Lee gown.  They didn't have the actual gown in my size, but I tried on several Mori Lee dresses and decided on an 8.  I also did my measurements and it was perfect except the waist was a little small...but i'm sure it'll be fine.  All the 8s that I tried on fit, and the bridal consultant even said that's probably the size they would order for me (although she emphasized that they ALWAYS go by measurements when ordering).  The experience was so easy ordering from Pearl's PLace and I am definitely going to order the bridesmaids dresses from there if the bridal gown comes in ok.

My Pearl's Place experience was also wonderful.  I ordered my Alfred Angelo dress on 6/12. They said it would be in 3 months or sooner. Most reviews said they got theirs really fast, so when it came 2 months later, still a month early, I was actually starting to sweat a bit. :)So, yes, for the $400 discount, I would use them again and again!

I ordered my dress from there.  I ordered a size 4 because another dress I had ordered from davids was a size 4 and the watters measurements were the same.  Well when i tried on my davids dress it ended up being about an inch too big and when i recieved my watters dress it is about an inch too big so I should have ordered the 2.  I remeasured myself and decided I should have just gotten the smaller size.  So point is the dress is exactly to the size charts.  I just got too nervous to order the smaller size.  I told myself I would need alterations anyway so its better to take the dress in than let it out.  Call the store and order over the phone.  They are super nice and helpful.

MrsRickels....what Watters gown did you order from PP?  I'm thinking I should order a 2 as well since I normally wear a 0-2.  On the size chart, my waist is the only thing that ranges from a 2-4 (a little over 26 inches), everywhere else I'm below. Thanks again for everyone's input!  It has made me feel much more comfortable about ordering from them.

I bought a Wtoo Genevive.  I ordered it according to the bust size which is 35 but really I am more of a 34.  I just got nervous becaue I have tried on strapless dresses before that were too tight in the chest and I couldnt breathe.  I dont remember what the hip size was on the dress i ordered but because my chest is larger than my hips I figured I would need to take that in as well.  Overall the dress is 1 to 2 inches larger on me than it should be.  For reference in jcrew and ann taylor i wear a 4 in dresses.  I probably am a davids bridal 4 but the dress i bought was a 6.
