Question for Watters brides

Specifically, if there are any Torrean brides out there, I'd love to get some input from you regarding size and color.  What size do you wear and what did you end up ordering?  If you got the dress in already, was the size good or smaller/bigger?  What color? I'd love to see pics if you have any.  For all other Watters gowns, what size/measurements are you and what size did you order.   The lady at the salon took my measurements and I was 32, 25.5, 34 but I plan on ordering my gown from Pearl's Place so she didn't tell me what size I would be in the gown.  I'm debating between a 2 or 4 because although my measurments fall into the 0-2 category from the chart I was given by PP, I'm afraid it might be small since wedding gowns run small.  Thanks!

Re: Question for Watters brides

• hi! I am wearing the CABO gown. When my bridal store took my measurments, they said i was between a size 0 or 2. I decided to go with the 2 and it fits perfectly. I wear a size 0/2 in everyday mall stores, so it fit really true to size. I have to have some minor alterations in the waist and bust, but im glad i went with the bigger of the 2 sizes. Generally, the watters sizing is very true to your normal size, but i would always go with the bigger of the two. Given your sizes, I would go with the 2:)
• julsie thanks for the input it really helped!  I looked at your bio and the engagement ring pics you have are almost exactly like my ring!  Great choice...it's gorgeous! :)
• I'm wearing wtoo rosalyn and I ordered an 8-- I usually wear a 6 or an 8 in regular clothes. My measurements were between a size 6 and 8 in watters sizes, but I decided to go with the larger of the two sizes since I know it's easier for a seamstress to take a dress in than to let it out. My seamstress is having to take the dress in some (especially since I lost about ten pounds between ordering the dress and my first fitting) but it's no biggie.Good luck-- watters gowns are gorgeous :)
• I've tried the Torrean and 9042b (pics in bio) and was measured by the shop.  It was totally true to size.  They told me to order a 4 which is what I wear in regular clothes.  I am 1/2 an inch bigger than the measurements for a 4 in the hips but the dress (9042b) is modified A that I would alter to be taken in at the hips for a more fitted look so I think it would be ok.  I was a little freaked though when she told me 4 since you're told to be prepared to go up a size or two in wedding dress sizes.
• oh lindze yay I'm glad I finally get to see the Torrean on a real bride!  It looks great on you!  Have you decided which dress you are getting?  Also, was the Torrean you tried on in white, or eggshell? All I could try on was the eggshell and I badly wanted to be able to see how the white looked since I would be ordering white.
• Lindze....I just saw your previous post about not finding the one yet so that answers my question about whether you got the Torrean.  However, I think everything you explained in what you are looking for in a dress describes Torrean to a t!  What don't you like about it?  I've gotten to the point where I know what I'm looking for but can't find it all in one dress. I want alencon lace applique on a trumpet silhouette. I really want the material to be silk or satin (not organza) with lace detail on the top, a plain middle and lace detail on the bottom. I am totally open on the top (strapless, straps) but if its strapless I prefer sweetheart (I know that's an easy fix). And I LOVE scalloped lace and a longish train.
• i just ordered that dress last week! I wear a 0 or xs in petite and I ordered a 4! I thought it was a huge difference but when she read me my measurements and showed me the Watters chart it made sense. I measure smaller on top than you do but the same in the hips which is why the salon recommended the 4. the associate I was working with has been doing this for 10 years so I trusted her guidance. she told me that since i am rather small chested, that she recommends having the cups built into the dress which would easily fill in the extra inch and a half size difference between me and the dress size. she also told me that taking the hips in is MUCH easier and less damaging to the overall shape and cut of the dress than if they had to let something out. before i actually put the deposit on the dress and ordered it, i discussed this with my grandmother who was the manager of the bridal dept at saks on 5th avenue for nearly a dozen years and she completely agreed. she said since i am not someone who has fluctuating weight and i don't plan on dieting before the wedding, that she would strongly recommend not ordering anything smaller. i have to say that in my own experiences with bridal gowns and even bridesmaids dresses, they always run small for the sizes they claim to be
• xHannah......you probably won't get your dress for several months right?  I wish you could tell me if going with a size 4 was a good idea or if a 2 would have been better once you get the dress, but I don't have that much time to wait lol.  I agree that its much easier to take it in so I don't want to take the chance of getting a 2 and it being small, it's just that even on the chart I fall into a 0 or 2, and all the girls have been saying its very true to size so I'm confused now.
• yeah unfortunately i have to go with a 4 because of my hips and i would really worry about the lace and the appliques being affected by letting out. my wedding isn't until next september so i actually don't get to see it now till APRIL! AHHHHHHHH hahaha. but honestly, with a dress as fitted around the middle and hips as that one is, I personally felt much better about getting slightly larger than smaller. not to sound like a snot but I would have to starve to lose anything and i don't think it would even affect my post baby hips at this point. haha
• wow hanna post baby and ur that size? awesome! lol....i have a pic of the dress in my bio under gallery...do you have any pics?  Did you order it in white or eggshell?  They only had eggshell in the stores but I plan on getting it in white.http://tinyurl.com/m4q5u
• haha thanks. I'm a lil one, always have been. I credit the genes and running after a toddler all day long! It's amazing what running 24/7 and not having the time to eat can do for your figure! haha. I am getting it in eggshell with the ivory lace. ps, it looks like it fits you like a glove!
• Hannah...one more question.....did you order it hollow to hem? How tall are you? I'm 5'3 and will be wearing heels, but I'm sure the dress will be pretty long and I'm afraid taking it up will mess up the detail.  Did they give you any advice regarding the length? thanks!
• hey there! SO i just had to grab my info and find out about the hollow to hem thing because I didn't remember talking about that. it's not filled in on my receipt so I am going to assume no. According to the lady who measured me I am: Bust: 30 3/4 Waist: 24 3/4 Hip: 37 (I got a booty) But I am 5'2" and plan on wearing 4inches. That's what I wore while trying them on. She told me the dresses are all cut to a height of 5'7" for Watters so including the heels, hopefully there won't be too much length to take off. She did however, tell me that they hem it from the part of the bodice where it meets the skirt because there is already a seam and that way it doesn't affect the trim on the bottom of the skirt. At least this is what they do at my salon but this is in NY.
• awesome Hanna thanks for all the info!  you've been really helpful....I never knew they were cut to a 5'7 height so I'm glad you passed that info on.   :)
