Help Dress?

I have tried on sooo many dresses and I'm really having a hard time finding what I like.  I have found several dresses that have things I do like but I have not found "the dress" that has all or most of what I want.  I know you can alterations but I haven't even found anything that is close enough.  The dress I have found that most closely matches what I want is Alfred Angelo 1846.  I had seen a Demetrios dress back in 2002 and 2005 that I loved but I have been able to figure out the style number even after contacting the local store and corporate.  This is what I am looking for:Cathedral train with lace detail so you can see the floor under the dress through the lace.Detailed top with beading, lace and/or sequence. I would like for the detail to be something other than white so it stands out from a white dress (ie: silver, ivory) . But this isn't a must, I just really like it. The skirt to have detail at the bottom that moves up towards the middle of the dress, not a solid white skirt. A waistline that does not have a straight across seem but either makes a "V" (Basque) or an inverted "V". Neckline: ??? this is what I'm not sure about. So far I like some halters, or sweetheart, but I don't like the straight across. I also like another style but I don't really know how to describe it, it kinda crisscrosses across the chest and has a thin string that ties behind the neck. Low back, well at least so my should blades show. I would love lace up but I know this can be added. See I'm picky! Now I just need to find it on one dress. I know some things you can alter. Anyone seen this dress!!! LOLThanks - Aubrey

Re: Help Dress?

  • I think you need to relax your standards a little.I was extremely picky at first.  I only wanted satin, with pleating, no beading or lace.  And then I decided to trust the consultant and tried on something totally out of the box (lace, beading, no pleating) and loved it and bought it immediately.Just go into a store and say, "I don't know what I want."  See what happens.  You might surprise yourself.

  • CHeck out Casablanca - they have several that are close possibly 1960, 1930, 1906, 1907, 1909....plus they allow you to make custom changes to the dresses, so if you like the top of one but the bottom of another you can do that - or if you rather it have a sweetheart neckline or a longer train, I believe you can customize those sort of things (of course for a slight fee) Also David's bridal T8607 or V8377 might be worth taking a look at

  • I have tried on over 50 dresses, and this is what I have narrowed it down to...lol.  Although there are many that I really like and think they are beautiful the cathedral or extended cathedral gown with lace, and large ball gown are the only kind I feel like a bride in.  So just thought I would check in a see if anyone had any suggestions.
  • Casablanca 1820 may be another good option though the beading/lace is throughout

  • Why don't you just design it and get it made if you've got so many specific ideas?

  • Casablanca 1914.Sweetheart neckline, long train with lace so you see the floor. Beading through out. No beeding directly at the top, it's a dif. type fabric that has detail. You can put a crioline (sp) to make it puffy (i am not). The dress on the website is really blah. I picked the dress up, here's what it looks like non altered on...Here is detail of the topThis is the awful website picture but it shows you how low it cuts in the backHope this helps a little....
  • My dress meets all of those criteria except the see through lace train. I changed the back of my dress to be a corset back - it comes with a zip up. You can see my dress in my bio.  It's Mori Lee 2142.
  • See what you think of this dress.. I know it has a plain front skirt.. which was the part I didn't like about it, but it meets your other criteria. I thought it was beautiful! Just wasn't the one for me.. http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=1&D=2188&P=2
