no train?

Hey, I'm still mostly a lurker on the boards, but I was just wondering if any of you are having a dress without a train? My dress has one but I am planning on having it removed, especially since there is nothing really special about it and I don't want to worry about having it bustled, etc. Everyone I talk to keeps saying that it is crazy to get married in a church and not have a train. So - anyone else not having a train on their dress?

Re: no train?

  • Whether you get married in a church has nothing to do with whether you should have a train.Your personal preference has EVERYTHING to do with it. Go ahead and chop off the train!

  • I don't want a train either! I hate the idea of having to manage a bustle and deal with dancing like that. I'm getting married in a church and I'm having mine chopped off. Go for it!
  • I bought my dress with no train.  It is just not my style and I am also getting married in a church. So I agree it is just your own personal preference.
  • Thanks girls! and I'll think about the chapel length veil, that may be an option. Thanks!
  • Also, if you're only worried about a bustle being too bulky or fussy, a short & simple train can be bustled very simply. My sweep train was bustled with only 3 points. Some are as simple as 1 point.

  • I ordered mine without a train. Had I gotten one with a train, I would have gotten it removed. My dress ended up only being $300. Still and all, I don't have that kind of money kicking around to just fork over for, well, mostly anything, let alone a dress. My thinking all along has been that if I'm going to spend that much money on a dress (or more) I don't want any part of it dragging on the ground. Period. Do what you feel comfortable with, regardless of your location.
  • I am planning on getting a dress on saturday and chopping off the train. So I say go for it. Does anyone know the general cost for this (choping train off)?
