Help with dress options

Hi there. I haven't posted on here yet, but I figured that you ladies would be the experts on theknot about this.I have found a dress that i absolutely love, minus one point. It has a black sash and a black train (or can come in all white) and i love the sash, but not the train. The company will not mix and match.So im thinking maybe i could buy it in all white and have someone (seamstress?) dye the sash area (obviously remove it and sew it back in after the dyeing). You think its possible? Here's the dress in black/white. I think you should talk to the seamstress who will be doing your alterations see what she thinks.

I would say to keep looking for a dress that will more closely meet what you are looking for.

yeah keep looking!  If you have to alter it so much then there is no point in buying it....the right dress is out there for you...just keep looking!   good luck!

Agreed that you should keep looking. What about buying the dress in all white (or a similar dress) and then just tying a black sash around it? That seems like an easier and cheaper solution than removing the black part of the train.I admittedly don't know much about dress alterations, but I'm guessing it would be next to impossible to dye a black material to match the rest of the dress and that a seamstress would need to use a new piece of material. I don't know what she would do about the beading, but either way it sounds like an expensive procedure.

I think that it is a great idea to order your gown in the white and then have the seamstress dye the sash. It sounds like it would make for your PERFECT gown with one little change!!!

yes, thats what ive been thinking - ill have to talk to my seamstress and have her look at the fabric and see if it would the white sash would be easily dyed black.sorry if my first post was confusing - i want to die the sash black from the all white dress, not die the train white from the black/white dress.thanks for much for all the opinions!
