  • i bought my dress at davids bridal and it was a wonderful experience. the consultant was sooooo helpful and really made sure i found what i wanted. the store was anything but dirty, and nothing i tried was made from cheap material. And the prices were fantastic. I was able to get everything i will be wearing that day, including bra, slip and shoes for under $1000.

  • I went there to look at dresses, and while I did not buy mine there I had a good experience. I only didnt buy there because my favorite dress was somewhere else. The sales people were nice, they did not stalk me afterwards, the dresses were pretty, it was not crowded. I ended up buying from an Alfred Angelo store, and I have to tell you that I am so happy I bought from a big chain. 3 bridal stores in my area have shut down over the past 6 months and all of those brides got screwed. There is sense of security, especially in times like this, if you buy from a chain that is not going anywhere instead of a mom and pop store that can go out of business tomorrow. Usually I prefer buying from a mom and pop store just to help them out, but not when it comes to something as important as my dress.
  • like PP said, each franchise is different.  i didn't like any dresses they had, so that alone wasn't a great experience.  i am not a fan of chains to begin with.
  • I didn't have a bad experience at David's Bridal! It depends on where you go. If you are looking for a place to find nice dresses at a good price DB is a good place. Go in the store and check it out. Let me know if you are interested, I'm selling my wedding dress, unworn, unaltered! I'm only selling it for $500. Check out the link below for the pic.... http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49978992&currentIdx=23&subCategory=-49999486%7c-49998999%7c-49978992&catentryId=6097083&sort= if you like it, try it out in the store (Style T9669) and let me know what you think! =) Good luck to you!!
  • I went there for my first visit, and the consultant was okay... but when she realized we weren't going to buy that day, it was clear that she wasn't very interested in helping anymore. The selection at the location I went to only had about 35% of what was in the catalog, and they had no white dresses that weren't strapless.  I'm a busty Irish girl - I need white, and I need straps!I wasn't impressed, but I found a great shop in my area that has a huge variety of styles and prices, which made it very easy to shop there...
  • I just bought my wedding dress at my David's Bridal (in Spring Valley, NY) this past Saturday!  I never in a million years thought I'd even LIKE anything from DB, and one of my BM's and I went just to take a gander, for fun really.  And lo and behold, I saw the dress that won Brides Magazine Operation Dream Dress Contest and I tried it on...it fit me PERFECTLY and my attendant was sooo extremely wonderful.  She didn't rush me or made me feel pressured into buying anything.  She also helped me with shoes, hairpieces and a veil just to see how the whole thing looked on me.  It was fantastic!  The store was pretty quiet (went on Friday night and Saturday morning) but even then she was very attentive and helpful.  I tried on other dresses too and she even picked out a few more she thought I might like.  So in my opinion, it's really a crapshoot.  The BM I went with said I was lucky because when she went her attendant was rude.  I say just head over to one and see how it goes from there.  If it doesn't feel right just leave. :)  Their loss!

I went and showed them the dresses I liked and it seemed that all the plus size versions of the gowns ended up having some tone of color. Another thing that t'd me off was that there were a few gowns I liked that didn't come in my size. Sorry some of us got big knockers and smaller waists.
