We're planning on going to Hawaii for our honeymoon.  Has anyone been / going to go?  I'd love to know where you went and what you thought of it.

I could write you a book about Hawaii ... we went to Maui for 10 days for our honeymoon last Nov and it was AMAZING!!! It is super expensive but its soooo worth it. Let me know what details you are looking for and I will be more than happy to let you know.

I'm kind of looking for some ideas on what island to go to.  I don't want to be surronded by tourists my whole vacation.

Well like I said we stayed on Maui our entire trip, we spent one day in Oahu by Waikiki Beach ... not a place I would recommend if you don't want to be around tourists. 

Maui was AMAZING.. we stayed in Lahaina which is busy because its the "Royal Capital", there are lots of locals there its close to everything and really nice. We also stayed in Wailea which is beautiful. I highly recommend Maui, its so beautiful there.

We also spent a day on Lanai which if you want seclusion this is the place to go. Its a small island that is not really inhabited, there is a small village but no stores just two hotels (four seasons) and a couple golf courses. We played golf there one day, it was so quiet and the hotels were so nice. 

Obviously Hawaii survives off its tourist income so no matter where you go there will be other tourists but we were not bothered by it.
