chair covers... should I forget it?

So I am currently obsessed with chair covers!  Yes It's silly, but I really want them at our wedding. I think it will complete the room, but can't help think that it is an unnecessary expense too.  Our reception is a day wedding at a local country club and the chairs aren't hideous.  See the pic...

Well maybe a little bit!  The company that my venue recommends charges $6.00 per chair for the covers and $1.50 per chair for the sashes.  Doesn't seem like much until like everything you do the math and multiply it by 150= $1125.  Soooooo for all of you married ladies(or anyone else), do you think that we or any of our guests are going to care that we didn't have chair covers if we go without??  Are the chairs $1125 hideous??

Wow, where do they recommend you get them?  We were quoted $4.75 for each chair, but it included the cover and sash.  We are going to do it, but probably wouldn't if it cost that much!  I don't think its that important, just a nice touch.

I also think chair covers look really nice, but just can't justify spending the money either.  And really, based on the picture and what your siggy says about the colors of your bridemaid dresses, it seems like the chairs at your venue already match your color scheme!  I personally would save the money because I don't think your guest will really notice.

See my response on our club board.  I was also quoted only $4.75 for the chair, sash, set-up and breakdown.  I'm not sure where you were given the quote from?

We used chair covers and sashes and I would spend the $ all over again. They absolutely make the room. We paid $6.50 per chair. That price included the covers and sashes and was based on our location.

Are you required to use the company they suggested? There are certainly a few companies we could recommend.

JMO - but if you have the $ I would absolutely go for it.

You are right - the chairs aren't hideous and you probably see them as something that will only be in the background BUT part of why I got my covers is because I saw pictures of a reception in my venue where a couple did not use covers and sashes. These chairs were in the background of every picture.

I also had a 4.50-4.75ish quote for the whole thing.

Those chairs aren't bad at all.  Our covers were one of the LAST things we booked becuase I wasn't sure if it would be in our budget until much later on.  I'm glad we did it, but there were other "extras" I'd pick before it (lighting, photobooth)

I decided against them, myself.  It just wasn't in the budget in the end.  My chairs were mauve with gold while my wedding colors were red and silver...  Chair covers are VERY nice, but when everyone is sitting down, no one is looking at the chairs.

I looked into these at linentablecloth.com
They're $2.69 each, and you OWN them - which means you can sell them after.
This also means you wouldn't have someone to set them up for you, but...

Thanks for your input ladies!   I guess I will have to shop around!  That was the price that I got from Exeter Rental.  They are who my vendor reccomended.  I also could see spending that money on the honeymoon instead though.  Danto thank you for the advice of waiting for that to be the last thing.

If you have the option to meet with other vendors, you could try Divine Linens in Manchester.

I was concerned about the cost too, my venue's a little cheaper but I think in the end for pictures it's worth it.  The chairs at my venue look the same and I hate them.  As other's have said see if you can shop around and bring in your own for less.

I was obsessed wtih chair covers. I wanted them so badly. DH thought it was a ridiculous thing to spend money on. In the end, we didn't have the money for them. And you know what...I didn't miss them one bit! No one noticed that I didn't have chair covers and my wedding was still just as beautiful. No offense to the people that got them. I would have got them if it were in the budget but no worries if its not. Your wedding will still be great!
