Do I have too many Accessories!?

I am wearing a lavender pearl necklace, Small lavender dangle earrings in my first set of holes and small ivory pearl earing studs in the second set. I love jewlery and I always wear two sets of earrings. I also have a small veil that is going underneith my half up hair. I need somthing else lavender to go in my hair and I want to get some flowers but im affraid I already have too many accessories. What does everyone think!? Thank you!

Re: Do I have too many Accessories!?

  • I think that you are fine on the accessories but can you post a picture of your dress? Maybe some small lavender flowers to just accent?
  • I think you're fine.  I also have two sets of holes in my ears so I wore two sets of earrings (gold dangles and diamond studs) plus a necklace.  I didn't have a veil, but I did wear flowers in my hair.  I didn't think adding a veil would've been too much - I just didn't wear it because of the wind!
  • I would need to a see a picture, but think that a hair accessory, flowers AND a veil could be a bit too much. In my opinion
  • Thank you all so much! You have no idea how much I appriciate the feedback! Here is my dress and here is the hair peaice I was thinking about. I need to add color besides my bouquet so the hairpeice is what I was thinking about. I Might have her make it into a comb instead of the headband. What do you guys think? Sorry this is the only photo I have of my dress.

  • Hmmm. Just my opinion, but I don't think those flowers go with the elegant lines and style of your dress.

I think a plain or sparkly headband would look nice (especially if you're considering that hairstyle!!) but not the flowers.
  • I think that if you normally accesorize a lot then why stop on your wedding day?
  • I agree with itzMS... i absolutely adore the floral headpiece, however I don't think it goes with your dress. Maybe if the yellow wasn't so overpowering... I would opt for a white floral-ish head piece or maybe something with sparkle or pearls... Etsy has some great wedding hair accessories

  • I would suggest smaller, and only lavender, or lavender and white (no yellow), for the floral accent, and keep it right around your half-up hair -- maybe like small lavender flowers on the end of bobby pins, with the pins inserted into your up-do and the few flowers showing? Or you could probably achieve that look with a comb, too -- the basic though being to make it look like you have a few flowers in your hair, not a big "thing" because that doesn't suit your dress. During the reception you might be able to take out the veil but leave in the flowers, whethe ron pins or a comb. I had a sparkly headband and a separate set of veils on a comb -- I actually left the veils in way longer than I thought I would!
  • Thank you everyone! You are very helpful! The flowers don't go well with my dress, I agree. But the whole idea of having a headpeice is to add lace and a bit more Lavender to my attire. The headpeice will only have lavender flowers (matching my necklace, earrings, and bouquet). The lady that would be making met this said that she could customize a whole peice for me and use a comb instead of that headband and use lace instead of the netting. I do over accessorize to begin with so I guess I would feel like im almost dressing down without all the stuff. lol! So if the flowers were all Lavender, a simplier headpeice, add lace and take away the netting, do you ladies think that would be ok or should I look at other lace and lavender alternatives?THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
  • It's definitely up to you in the end, but in my opinion even slightly overdoing it is overdoing it.

Unless the necklace is VERY understated and the earrings also, I wouldnt go with a floral headpiece. Maybe single lavender pearl studs in the first piercing instead?

The comb clip is a great idea and if your seamstress can make a very subtle one you are in luck! I think your dress is beautiful, so you dont need to overcompensate for anything by adding so many accessories.

  • What do you girls think about this instead? I would have her put it on a clip and it would be about 2 1/2 inches big.
  • It is YOUR day.  What does it matter what other people think?  You & your groom will be the center of everyone's attention, and you will be beautiful, regardless of the amount of accessories you wear.  I don't think what you have mentioned is too much.  I'm wearing a necklace, drop earrings, flower & veil in my hair, and a bracelet.
