Alterations.

Hi Ladies,
I am from the Maine board, but was hoping for some help! My dress just came in from Madelines Daughter. Now, it's time for alterations. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with alterations here. As of right now they are holding it for me, for free.. but I'd love to find out if I should plan on having them do alterations of if I should go pick it up and bring it back to Maine for that. They quoted me about $400 to change the neckline (i'm making it into a sweetheart neckline), for the bustle, and to make it actually fit me. That seems reasonable to me.. those are kind of big changes. But then again, I've never done this before, so who knows!
Thanks for your help!

Im not sure about madellines daughter but i do know that i got my dress from Bridals by Sandy in Alfred Maine (small cute place) and they are making my neckline a somewhat small sweetheart (due to beadwork) and the bustle and they quote me about 75$.. honestly I tihnk Maine is cheaper, esp if you go to a smaller dress place.. Grew up in NH live in MA, and lived in ME for a few years... ME is def. always cheaper :) GL!

ps- I dont know any other prices so 400$ could indeed be a good deal, this is just what I was quoted.. GL!

I was quoted $200 to have my dress taken in what I consider a significant amount and a bustle added at Andrea's Bridal in Rochester, NH.

EDIT I am also having it taken up at the waist.  The bottom is all scalloped lace so they have to take it up at the waist instead of a regular hem.

I am having my dress altered at MD. I changed the top of the dress (made it strapless with a halter option), had a bustle done, and the dress is being taken in a lot. I paid $350 for everything.
