I need major help with bridesmaid dresses.

We had our wedding pretty much completely figured out, other than I hadn't found 'the dress' for myself. The venue was a really laid back, lounge-y type place so short black dresses with one bridesmaid wearing an emerald sash, the other wearing an amethyst sash (our colors) really worked out and gave it a simple, cocktail party-like vibe. Then all of a sudden we had to change venues and decided on this gorgeous ballroom. The cocktail dresses really don't work in this setting. Not only that, I stumbled upon a gorgeous dress that I am in love with. It's a cream color with gold accents and it is very fluttery. Here it is:

The problem I'm having now is-- do you think black would still 'go' well with my dress? And what style would even look good with it, and in the ballroom setting? I still want shorter dresses but I'm not finding a whole lot! The only other colors I've thought of are chocolate or gold, and I don't really like those ideas. As you can tell, I am sooo not good with fashion lol. Thanks!!

  • I think simple cocktail dresses will look fine with that dress. I would try and find something in a lighter material if you can.

The main thing is to make sure that your BMs are not dresses more formally than you. I would also steer clear of embroidery, ruffles or bows, dramatic necklines, etc.

My BMs wore plain black cocktail dresses (silk taffetta) from AnnTaylor.com, and I gave them green sashes that I bought from someone. Simple, easy, classy and pretty. JCrew.com is also great for simple yet elegant dresses.
