Twist Dress

Has anyone seen/worn the twist dress (LINK) in person? BMs and I were pretty sure this was our BM dress, but I've seen some pictures and videos of it in actual weddings and it doesn't always look so flattering. Thanks!

Re: Twist Dress

  • Is it possible for you guys to go try one one? I know some people have complained about ones that are jersey/knit (they cling to every bump and bulge so are not flattering) but I don't know anything personally about them. It's always best to try on dresses before ordering. how something looks on an airbrushed model is not how it's going to necessarily look on every body type...

Those things never work as advertised and frankly don't look good on anyone who isn't tall and stick-thin.

ETA: Also? 100% IMPOSSIBLE to wear a bra with. Skip it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Twist Dress : All of this.  Paid $200 for one as a BM and it was HORRIBLE.  I didn't even donate it, I shredded that sucker into cleaning rags after the wedding, just to make myself feel better. There were 5 girls with 5 completely different body types and NONE of us were comfortable in it.  You can't wear a bra, you can't wear panties (even a thong shows, that's how clingy and slinky that material is) and it feels like your standing in front of everyone in a nightgown.   <strong>On the upside, if the ceremony is boring, the guests can pass the time playing "count the cellulite pocks on the BMs, because every single bump and imperfection shows through. </strong>

<div>This paints such a vivid picture. $200 for that? I've seen it for $70 and I felt like that was a little high.</div><div>
</div><div>Thank you guys so much! I'm really glad I asked. I'd feel terrible if anyone were uncomfortable, especially after paying for it.</div>
  • I've seen those dresses, but never had to wear one. They're pretty unforgiving, but I think it is the bad fabric choice. I have a similar multi wear dress from American Apparel called the Le Sac Dress that I always get lots of compliments on. It is a soft t-shirt like cotton fabric, so I don't know that it would really work for a BM dress. I'm sure if you wanted to do a multi way dress though, you could find one in a fabric that looked a little better.

This is the dress I have:

  • I actually just picked my sister's up from the dress shop and played with it for a good hour. It's so fun, and you can actually have cups sewn in to make sure you've got support. One of my BMs is 5'1" with DD breasts, and she liked hers so much that she wore it on New Year's Eve. She said the bra thing is something to consider, but the cups + a backless bra made it very comfy. Otherwise, she said she would just do the strapless style with her regular bra. The fabric is very good quality and dropped straight from my waist so it didn't slide over any bumps. My FI walked in while I was twisting it around and asked me if I was going to get one for myself! I am sure it's not for everybody, but me and my 5 very differently shaped BMs (the one described above, my sister who is 5'7" and bigger, and 5'2" stick, a curvy 5"4', and a soon-to-be very pregnant 5'8" girl) are very happy with it.
