aww Hi Shauni!   Of course I remember you, that's so funny that you found me on here, what a small world :) Glad you liked my pictures thank you for the compliments!  We had such a fun great wedding day and I can't believe it's almost been 6 months now!    When and where are you getting married?  I think I missed your intro (I'm not on here as much as I used to be) or else I would have recognized you from your picture I think!

I moved to florida for a few years after keene but I'm back up in NH now for about the last 18 months, I'm a social worker in Manchester.  It's tough work but I love my kiddos :) Are you really living in California?  What are you up to out there?  oh and Congrats on your engagement :)

Yes, I am living in CA working for a clothing designer--we design women's yoga, running, and cycling clothes.  I am glad we moved out here, but I am totally ready to move back east now...we chose the worst time to come to CA (hello recession!). We are planning a Sept. wedding in Cornish NH at my aunt's farm, very rustic country (comfort foods for the buffet!).  I can't wait, but at the same time, I keep getting so stressed about it!

Hard to believe you have already been married for 6 months--I looked at your honeymoon pictures on your bio, looks like you guys had a great time!  I am more excited about the honeymoon than the wedding right now...did you do a honeyfund or honeymoon registry at all?  If so, I would love to hear how it worked out for you!

Hope you are having a great holiday season, glad to be in touch again!

Don't worry, the next 9 months will fly by and you'll be on your honeymoon before you know it after enjoying a perfect day!   Just make lots of lists and tackle one thing at a time and you'll get it all done.   I love the country rustic theme, sounds awesome!  You should make a planning bio so we can all check out your ideas :)

Nope we didnt do a honeymoon registry but I did look into it a little bit.  In the end I felt like we had already registered at two stores and I didn't want to add a 3rd but I wish we had done it!  It sounds really cool and some locations have it so that you can specifically "register" for excursions or spa packages.... and they are pricey so I wish we had done that, we spent a ton of money on excusions (well worth it but ugh hated seeing that money fly away!)

It must be tough planning from so far away so deffinitly let any of us know if you have any questions or anything we can help you with since we're local!

    amy,

no way no how do i have the time to make a planning bio!!  i work around 65 hours a week...plus babysit.  i barely make it onto the knot!  but i love checking out everyone elses :)

i think we will do a honeymoon registry and only do a bridal registry for my showers...it is really expensive to go on a honeymoon, and after being together for 8 years and living together for 3, we have a lot of house stuff already!  i think it is nice for people to be able to contribute to something meaninful like a romantic honeymoon rather than an unecessary icecream maker.

it is hard to plan from so far away, but i have already found a caterer, photographer, and dj.  while i am home in two weeks i have meetings with all of them for tastings, contracts, etc.  that will be a biiiiiig relief.  and hopefully i will find the dress at home too--i am so picky, so far the only dresses i like have price tags of $1500+ which is out of my range.

thanks for the offer of help--did you do the get together with the other nh knotties last week?  its nice how close everyone on this board is!  hope you are enjoying the nice weather out there, it was only 14 here today!

Holy crap where do you live in CA that it was only 14 degrees??  It was 67 yesterday which was highly unusual (as you know) but tomorrow is supposed to be 40 and possibly snow.  Soo I guess the weather gods were just teasing us boo.

I hear ya on the registry crap,  but the way I see it is it's better to register for a few ktichen/home things because people WILL buy it for you anyways so at least give them some guidance as to what you could actually use!  we've lived together for 3 years as well but it was still really nice to get some upgrades to our appliances and "real" dishes.  We were still using my plastic hawaiian ones from college!  I think a lot of your younger crowd (friends, young family) will go for the honeymoon registry, a lot of older people may not "get it", just to warn you!  So prepare your family to be able to explain it in case the questions start coming in!

That's great that you're going to sign all those contracts when you're home!  I think that will help ease your stress level for sure.  I got my dress from Marry and Tux and felt that they had a really realistic range of dresses and was able to get mine for significantly less then I had expected which is always a bonus :)

I did get together with some of the girls last week, I've actually become really close friends with several of these girls in real life and we hang out a couple times a month outside of the gtg's.  Everyone is SUPER nice and I couldn't have planned my wedding without them!

Good luck with everything and deffinitly let me know if you need anything!

i heard it was super warm out there the other day!!  we live in tahoe, so we get a lot of snow (30" tomorrow night...which is no big deal out here, the average normal snow fall is around that...) and we are used to the cold--although compared to vt and nh it is a lot warmer in the winter and rarely gets below 30.  we have a special weather statement because it is only supposed to be 32 degrees all week.  i was like, wait, in vt it is below 32 every day....

i agree with you on the registry--younger people get the honeymoon registry and the older crowd likes the traditional.  we already have great glassware and place settings, as we both worked at simon pearce glass and pottery and have about $4000 in good dinnerware.  and my grandmother gave us all of her fine china and crystal.  we mostly need things like crockpots and nicer pots and pans...and a mexican all inclusive honeymoon :)

where is marry and tux?  i have an appointment at madelines daughter in portsmouth while i am home, and hope to find the dress there--they have some great affordable designers!

i will let you know if i need anything at all, so far most of the people on the knot seem to be in southern nh, and my wedding is up near lebanon, so i am not familiar with most of the vendors suggested, but it is nice to just have a board of people in the same situation as i am:)

    sleep well!

oooh tahoe sounds beautiful!  Although... 30 inches of snow is normal??  YIKES that's so much I think some parts of NH would shut down if we got that much snow at once!  It finally snowed here last night as you may have heard, I think we got about 4 inches maybe?  I havent been outside yet but it's really pretty!

Marry and Tux is in Nashua and there is also Modern Bride in Bedford.  Madeline's daughter is an awesome salon but I found their prices to be a little more expensive then M&T.  But it also depends on what you are looking for, they do have a wide range of designers and dresses!  Honestly, I would go there first since thats you're top place and then I would make an appointment now for M&T just in case.  If you find what you're looking for at MD then you can just cancel it but if you dont, then you have a backup!  and I think you're coming home at xmas so the salons might be pretty busy- hence the appt.  It may be worth it!

you're going to have a busy christmas week but it will be so worth it to check all this stuff off your list!    ohh that was one of my favorite things, crossing things off my list haha

i already have an appointment at some bridal salon in concord too, in case i cant find what i am looking for at md!  and i LOVE making lists and crossing things off of them, this will feel so good!

we have over two feet of snow so far, and it is still dumping...we are supposed to get at least 12" more today.  then on thursday we have another storm that is going to last 3 days and is supposed to drop 16" a day...as pretty as it is, this is just too much!  it was so hard driving to work today!

hope you have a good week :)

wowwww I can't believe you had to drive to work in that but I bet your town doesnt shut down for anything they are probably so used to the massive amounts of snow!  See i would enjoy a foot or two of snow all at once because hopefully my work would close and I could have a day off or work from home in my pjs!

Good luck with dress shopping, take pictures if you can sneak them and let us know how it goes!
