Color HELP!!

I am completely lost which what colors to choose for my wedding theme. Here is my predicament: the venue has navy, gold, green, brown, and cream colors within it. We are having the ceremony and reception in the same room (they will do a flip during cocktail hour). My wedding is nov 30, 2013 (the Saturday after thanksgiving next year). Even though that is thanksgiving weekend (the epitome of fall holidays) you'd think I should go with fall colors BUT the venue is located right on monument circle. The monument will already be lit up as a Christmas tree that Saturday as they do every year. The inside of the club we're marrying in will also already be decorated for Christmas and there will even be a fixed lit Christmas tree inside of the room were marrying in that we cannot move. Because it is thanksgiving weekend and Christmas decorated, I cannot decide on theme colors because I think it is necessary to combine the two together as a 'fall meets Christmas' sort of theme. Please help me with suggestions! I originally was thinking brown, gold, and cranberry but I don't want the groomsmen in brown tuxes. Also, the walls look peach in the picture here but they are actually and ivory color.

I think the colors or browns, golds, and cranberry would be beautiful.  And just because you are using brown does not mean the GM have to wear brown tuxes.  In fact I discourage anyone from having their GM wear anything but black with tuxes (unless of course they are wearing suits and then a variety of colors open up).

Also, do not concern yourself with the color of the carpets or chairs or walls.  None of these should have any bearing on the colors you pick.

I do agree that since there will be a lit Christmas tree in the room you are using then you really don't have a choice but to lean more towards holiday colors.  I will say that once Thanksgiving is over with my house turns into a Christmas wonderland and all thoughts of fall go by the way side.

If you stay with the color scheme you originally thought of I would keep the browns and golds to the linens and invitations with pops of cranberry.  Flowers, you could do cranberries and reds, or you could do all white with a pop of cranberry and gold.  Your BMs could wear beautiful cranberry dresses (would go best with most skin tones).

For centerpieces you could use Christmas ornaments, fresh cranberry pomander balls placed on different height candle holders, large vases filled with tall branches with hanging votives, masses of white flowers, etc.

There are a variety of things you could do with the color scheme you thought of.  Don't stress too much about it.  Start with one thing at a time, like your invites, and go from there.

What kind of wedding are you envisioning overall-- are you planning to go more traditional? modern? have a specific theme like Black Tie Supper Club? This will help in determining your color scheme. Also, colors can envoke certain feelings or moods, which you can play up to your advantage to convey your theme. For example, if leaning towards a "christmas theme", high-contrasting, unusual pairings like Cranberry and electric green can feel modern and quirky while Cranberry, silver, and creme can come across more traditional and formal.
