I got my dress today.  I tried it on and it won't go over my hips.  =(  Also instead of coming in a box, it came stuffed in a flat rate envelope.  FI was not happy about that.  All I want to do is cry.

First - hugs. Saying "that sucks" is truly inadequate. 

Did you try putting it on over your head? What shape is it? If it's A-line or similar, it might fit over your head a little easier (rather than trying to get it over your hips, which are typically wider than your shoulders). If you can, you might be able to see how snug it really is. Did the salon order the correct size for you?

It could be a matter of a little tailoring! You have like 5 months to figure this out, right? This can be done!

Oh no! Thats terrible. Good advice, Sara, try it on from your head? Where did you get the dress from? If they got your size wrong, you should be able to return it and get the right one. Is it possible to do alternations?

It sounds like you might have ordered it online? (just guessing because you said it arrived in an envelop) If that's the case, do they do returns or exchanges? You can also try and sell it on Craigslist or recycled bride and then buy something off the rack? I'm so sorry its not what you were expecting :-(, I'm sure there's a way to fix it though.

I'm so sorry your disappointed right now. This can be fixed, don't worry. Can you get the dress exchanged for a different size? Get alterations done?
I'm also trying to picture how a dress comes in an envelope.

I did try it on over my head.  I ordered it from a company called wedding tropics.  FI is going to help me with talking to them and see if it can be fixed.  He is going to take the measurements of the dress and then take my measurements again to see if they are the same.  Also the dress has pleats in the skirt that I don't remember being in the picture.  So he says we are going to try to get them to fix it.   He also told me to pick out a couple other dresses I like from David's Bridals.  Hopefully we will get this resolved.  I will update as things play out.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear that.  I'm fearful when I go try on my dress that it won't fit me again even though I've lost weight.

As Sara said **Hugs**  because I know that is exactly what I would need in this situation.  But just keep calm and you will figure out what to do.. maybe this is a sign and there will be something at Davids or elsewhere that you love even more (just trying to keep you looking at the bright side!)

:o( I can't believe they got an entire dress into a flat-rate envelope - c'mon. Kohl's and other businesses don't even send their clothes in that condition.

I had great experiences with David's Bridal - so they can definitely be a good back-up for you. I bought my dress in January  - and it's already in at the store.

Oh no! Like the other PP's said...it can be fixed. Sounds like your FI is being super supportive. I'm sure everything will work out!

Oh… I’m sorry to hear that. Your dress should be ordered from online stores, I guess. It would be better to order a custom-made dress…….tailored completely as your unique measurements. Many good online stores provide such a service, like Inweddingdress and Nordstrom
