Need help

My fiance and I are planning on having a theme to our wedding. The theme isn't your typical wedding theme but it suits our personalities perfectly. It's a type of gangster/mafia theme, mainly we want the guys to wear zuit suits with the hats and the pocket watch chains. Red ,black and white are our colors. I do not want the girls to wear flapper dresses which is more typical with this theme because then it would seem  more like a costume party and those dresses are just not flattering at all. so I need help trying to come up with ideas for bridesmaid dresses and I have been also been trying to find a wedding dress that is not too princess like and will go well with the zuit suits. I looked up on goole images gangster wedding dresses and found a picture of a man in a zuit suit and woman in a beautiful wedding dress ( at the bottom of the picture it says Love helps Heal) and what i can see of the womans dress is exactly what I am looking for! She has a fur covering on her shoulders and a head pieces that just pulls the look together.. This is what I am wanting but I can not get the picture to get any larger and I have no idea where I can find that fur covering or a similar dress. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I could find this?

Can you post the picture here?

Edit: Also, you may want to look for 20s or 30s-inspired wedding dresses, rather than googling "gangster wedding dress", because you might have more luck and it would still be the right time period.  GL!

  • I'm not sure how to post pictures on here, I saved the picture on my computer and now of course can't find it on google so I can't really post a link.
  • You can upload it off your computer, click the little picture frame under the reply box next to the spell check.

Check out http://www.unique-vintage.com, they're one of my favorite shops.  They do sell flapper dresses, but they also have really great dresses from other eras, and they have wedding dresses as well.  I didn't end up buying my gown from them, but I love their stuff.  (Warning: they run small.)  I ended up getting my dress from David's, but I think it had a nice vintage look to it, there are pictures in my bios.

You can also search OffbeatBride.com for vintage weddings.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
