MOH with different color dress?

My colors are plum, silver, and white, and the bridesmaids will likely be wearing long, plum gowns with some type of silver accent beading, broach, etc. I can't decide whether or not the MOH should wear the same dress as the bridesmaids but in a lighter shade of purple. My MOH is my cousin and she said she doesn't care either way. I'm just not sure if it looks best to have the MOH stand out or not, or if there are more subtle ways to distinguish her as the MOH. Then again, is it even necessary to have her stand out as the MOH at all? I know that she is and so will my guests.

I'm just torn and looking for opinions! haha

Re: MOH with different color dress?

  • No, it's not necessary that the MOH stand out.  Most people will guess that the BM standing closest to you is the MOH if there is no obvious distinction.  However, many people do have the MOH wear/have something slightly different.  I think having her wear a different colored dress is fine if that's what you want.

FWIW: I prefer a more subtle way then a different colored dress.  My MOH wore the same dress as the rest of the BMs.  The only difference was that the BMs had cap sleeves on theirs and my MOH's was sleeveless with a short lace bolero jacket over the top.
