Am I CRAZY?

I just went to pick up my dress and I feel very weird right now.  I originally wanted a sexy classy dress for my wedding, but I went about 2 months ago to look at dresses.  I tried on this gorgeous dress that was very princess like and my mom and sister both loved it.  I ordered it because I do think it is absolutely gorgeous, but now I just feel like I wanted something completely opposite of what I ordered.  I feel very uneasy and stressed out right now.  I don't know what to do.  I feel like I should be extremely happy right now and I am not at all!!!! What do I do????????

Re: Am I CRAZY?

  • Most brides go in wanting one thing and come out with another. If you like the dress- not just because your mom and sister do then keep it and dont worry about. If its in the budget you could always get a reception dress.
  • I would try it on again without anyone around and ask yourself honestly if you like it. If you don't go looking again, maybe the first time by yourself until you have it narrowed down to a few. You may be the type of bride who needs to do it alone without outside suggestions and input the first time around. And then take your mom or sister. It probably isn't returnable, but you could always sell it on preownedweddingdresses.com or some other site. Or like the pp said, you could wear it and get another dress for the reception. I think you have options here, so don't freak just yet.
  • It's more money, but I think it's a great idea to have one dress for the reception and one for the ceremony.
I have a friend who's a professional seamstress, who's making my dress and it's been so pleasant working with here. the design I decided on is very far from my orginal thought.
I would suggest to anyone who hasn't bought her dress yet to look into having it designed and made by a seamstress (and not by your best friend who happens to own a sewing machine).
The design now is very simple and as we go through the fittings I'll either add on embrodiery or little flowers, sequins or not...
It's been really good for my stress level, knowing that I can take it in steps and change my mind later.
  • Yeah, I went through something similar at my first fitting.  I think it is normal.  I didn't get a new dress.
