BCBG "Wedding Dress"

Hi girls!

I went to the mall yesterday to try on a BCBG gown that I fell in love with online.  It's not a "wedding dress" but I know that many have used it as one.  This is the one:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3026588?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=laser+cut+dress&origin=searchresults

Our Nordstrom didn't have it, but the BCBGMAXAZRIA store did.... but only inthe "champagne" color (which is the color indicated on the BCBG site)... and is WAY too dark to be a wedding dress.  Nordstrom's site says "off-white" and certainly looks white. I've seen many pictures of other brides with the dress, and it does look white.

So, my question... for those of you who are using this dress, was it actually white/off-white?  I'm tempted to order it just to see.

I'm seriously considering this one!  It's so odd to go with a dress that isn't really a wedding dress... but I love it!

  • Oh geez, the long link screwed with my post. Sorry!  Posted again below...

  • Saschaduran wore that dress.  Her bio is http://jenanddavid.weebly.com/index.html.  Or you can pm/page her on the Etiquette board.
  • LOVE that dress and I actually love the color you tried on.  It's a unique colo9r without being too crazy.

  • By "WAY too dark to be a wedding dress" please tell me that you MEANT that it's too dark for your choice of wedding dress color? If not, you should really reconsider posting such blatantly rude comments. Some women wear gorgeous red, black, blue, green dresses. And they're still wedding dresses.

  • Any color is suitable for a wedding dress. It need not be white or ivory. Even people with "actual wedding dresses" from a designer often buy it in champagne. It's all about what flatters your skintone the best, not what's common or traditional.

If you like this dress, get it! Don't worry about how other people looked in it. The important thing is that YOU feel happy in it.

I bought that dress on ebay super cheap (and I mean suuuuper cheap) to change into towards the end of my reception. The one I got is off white but the one in your pic looks darker than mine.  Before you pay the full shot for that dress you should try ebay.  Its very pretty though!

  • Hippie4- Go somewhere else and stir the pot.  You knew what she was saying, and if you didn't like it, than you should have moved on.  Your remark was catty and unneccessary.  Not every post is for everyone.  This is supposed to be a safe place for brides to post, and worrying about offending someone not wearing a white dress shouldnt be the first thing on her mind.  Get off your high horse.

Thank you. Seriously. I had no intentions of being "blatantly rude," and I don't think I was. My best friend & maid of honor is getting married a month after me... and her wedding dress is black. So?

I'm sorry to offend. I'll stick to my local board.

You did?  Oh yay, good to know!  It <strong>is</strong> a really pretty color, honestly. I know someone else who got married in a champagne-colored dress and it was really pretty & flattering.
  • Oh my gosh!  There was this incredible rich, gold dress I loved at a sample sale, and I wanted it sooo bad.  Didn't fit- and seriously, at first glance of that picture I thought you were a model in it- it fits you flawlessly- and if it makes you happy, rock on!!  I know where you are coming from, you want to make sure its not too dark, so you still feel traditional, but with some pizazz!  Love it!  And don't avoid this Board because of one person who has nothing better to do with her time!

PUBLIC board = bite me, I can say whatever pleases me within the rules of the board. Including letting this chick know her comments were rude. Which they were.

One comment = I was stating my opinion. 2 comments (your "reprimand") = YOU are stirring the pot, smarty pants. Could have just left it at my opinion of OP's choice of words, but nooooo. Lame.

  • agk0125 - That would be great!  I would love to see pictures of you in the off-white, IF you have them... no worries if you don't.
  • Sorry, just seeing this. Here you go:

  • Very pretty - reminds me of mine (diamond white tho) Casablanca 1889.... You, I am sure, are getting a great deal!
  • You look gorgeous in the champaigne gown!!! Many brides wear champaige, or light gold or ivory. What ever you chose, the gown is lovely.
  • That dress looks GORGEOUS!!! I wish I hadn't rushed to buy my dress now because I actually really wanted something in champagne or gold, but settled for ivory because DB doesn't usually have a lot of dresses in anything other than white or ivory. Definitely try ebay if you know your size, because you can easily get brand new with tags BGBG dresses for less than half of what they retail for.
