Shoes

My wedding color is purple (regency is the name at davids bridal). The whole wedding party will be wearing that color. I was out shopping around and found a pair of shoes that match that color perfectly. I thought that it would be fun to wear shoes that are colored not the simple white or ivory. My family thinks its a dumb idea. (all of my sisters are bridesmaids) The only people who think its a good idea are me, my boss, and my fiances mother. Should I go with what I want or go with the traditional white or ivory shoes. I'm 20 so I'm all about my wedding being different and fun. I love color and saw these shoes and thought it would be the perfect way to add color to my attire.   Is it an immature idea or since its my wedding I should wear what I want?

Re: Shoes

  • You should wear what you want but I absolutely don't think it's immature to be considerate of your family's wishes!

Here's what I'm doing, it might help you.  I will wear ivory shoes for the ceremony and beginning of reception and after supper, I will change into purple shoes.  My family loves the idea, but I'm not sure they'd like it as much if I wore my purple shoes at church.

    Hope it helps!

  • You're asking too many people for their opinions! The only one that matters (when it comes to your shoes)- is YOU.
  • Colorful shoes are really popular these days--I say go for it. They'll look great, and as an added benefit, you'll be able to rewear them with other outfits after the wedding.
  • You are the one wearing the shoes for the day so you get what you want. People are only going to see them if you lift up your dress anyways- so they won't even notice.

  • Wear what you want, what is comfortable, and what will make you happy.
  • Your feet=your choice. Colored shoes are becoming quite common, even for traditional brides. Wearing shoes that coordinate with your BM dresses is hardly an act of fashion rebellion.
  • Colored shoes are in right now. Go for it.

  • Do what you want, they're your feet.

FWIW, I wanted purple shoes (Our color was David's Bridal's Lapis) and wound up in plain white pumps instead because of family pressure (Even then I knew it was silly, but I really just didn't feel like fighting with anybody about it) ... I don't necessarily regret my shoes, but part of me still gets a little wistful when I see other brides' wedding pics where they show off their cute colored shoes. Get the shoes you want.
