I got my dress... not what I was expecting!!

I got engaged in December, and I am getting married in July. So I knew I had a short time frame to find a dress... luckily I found my dress this weekend off the rack! Brand new dress! TOTAL OPPOSITE of what I thought I wanted... but FI came with me (untraditional, I know, but he is my best friend and I trust his opinion) and we both loved it! But since it is not 'white' or 'ivory'... I need some advice on accessories, a veil, flowers, etc that will go with this amazing dress!! HELP! I am trying to find a matching veil too if anyone knows of any online anywhere! thanks ladies!!

  • I love it!  And Maggie dresses are really pretty.  I tried on a few and was convinced for awhile that I was going to be a Maggie bride.  Did you get the belt as shown in the photo?  If not, I'd do a simple beaded belt, simple jewelry (the dress is enough to speak for itself), birdcage veil (I think you can probably do this in white even), and white flowers.
  • Thank you!! :) The one I got came with the beading on it (no belt). So it is already blinged up a bit! But yes I couldnt turn away from the 'blush' color... really had no idea that I would love it. I thought my FI would find it to be ridiculous.. but he LOVED it..! I was shocked! But I love this dress. I was going to use sunflowers.. but now I feel like Pink and Yellow might be a little overwhelming.. so I am trying to start over with my color scheme, because I havent purchased anything else yet, so I can sort of 'start over' with my ideas..

  • Very pretty.....I picture pink, cream, and champagne/gold for a color scheme. I love the soft romance of those colors together.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I would stick with soft colors like ivory or champagne, as Addie suggested.  You could do ivory flowers (hydrangeas are a good choice) and even an ivory birdcage veil or facscinator.   I wouldn't do other bright colors unless it was a darker or jewel tone (maybe purple or plum), because as you mentioned, it may not "go" with the blush.

  • you could do yellow w it, but not an orangey yellow, maybe a soft yellow, or cream.

that dress is *jawdrop* gorgeous! and I love the fact that your FI went with and loved it too :)

  • I completely agree ladies!! Thank you for all the helpful hints! I am not usually a very fashionable person, so it is tough for me to figure all of this out. This dress is kinda bold, and I didnt want to 'overdo' anything... so I appreciate the help!

  • I have the same dress!!!! But in white with the white beaded waist. I can't wait for it to come in. I tried it on with 2 different veils one elbow length which was pretty but I wasn't that into, the 2nd being a floor length one but then that hid that amazing bottom. I think I am going for just a head piece like a bejeweled barrette that matches the jewles on the dress or a bird cage veil. Good taste girl!!

Beautiful dress!  I say go with peals I think they will compliment the dress prefectly.   Also iridescent crystals would be great since they have that hint of blush in them.  Congrats babe!
  • I saw this dress and went gaga over it the first time I saw it. Such a unique and beautiful piece! I wound recommend keeping things white or ivory along with the blush to really amp up the romantic vibe.

As for a veil and such, that might be a little difficult. Matching shades of pink is always an issue.
