This may sound really dumb, but I honestly have never heard this. So first off I found a pair of heels that say 4 1/4 inches with 1 in platform. Then I read an article that says
"
even though the heel height might be recorded as 6 or 7 inches, the real height may only be 5 or so inches. Example: The heel height is listed at 4 3/4 inches. However when you take into consideration that the hidden platform is 1 1/4 inches the heel height is actually 3 1/2 inches."
If I'm understanding this correctly, the heels I found are closer to 3.25 inches? I don't want to be too tall that day - He is 5'8" and I am 5'4".
Re: Hidden Platform effects heel height?
I think they only tell you what the platform height is so that you know what the heel will feel like, because 5.25" with ZERO platform would be STEEP!!
[QUOTE]I normally wear 5.25" heels that have a 1" platform, the heel height is still 5.25" I think they only tell you what the platform height is so that you know what the heel will feel like, because 5.25" with ZERO platform would be STEEP!!

Ditto this. a 3 inch heel, with a 1 inch platform, will still make you 3 inches taller. It will just lift the front part of your foot up by 1 inch, so the heel will only FEEL like you are wearing a 2 inch heel.
