Is the bridal place making me crazy for nothing?

OK, so weddinig is 3 weeks away. All my BM's have ordered dresses, have them and are in the process of alterations - perfect. Groomsmen....not so much. Only one out of 3 has been fitted and ordered their rentals. The place keeps calling me and basically scolding me that they have not come in yet and telling me they could run out of inventory! Is this their way of trying to solidify the order or what? My FI has been communicating back and forth about it, but they seem to all think that it is getting blown out of propertion and as long as they head in within the next week or two its all good. Are they right and I can just calm down? What more am I supposed to do - drag them in by their earlobes????

This isnt a ploy, as in our case we ordered early to make sure we had what we needed because it was during prom season. If you are going into Oct, you are getting close to Homecoming season.

What is the BM's reason for not getting this taken care of? They only need to be measured so they can have that size set aside for your day.

  • Ooo, if it were me, I'd be freaking out about the groomsmen.  It depends on their size though.

All my groomsmen are tall, and require special order sizes, and that takes time to come in.  Then you have to do the actual alterations.  Say the mailing of the items takes a week (if you are lucky), and the alterations take a week, you are up to just one week breathing space.  That would make me sweat bullets.

  • I know that the place we're going through for the tuxes does charge a rush fee if they get measured less than two weeks out, and we're going through a national chain (Men's Warehouse) so that's not too unusual to me. At three weeks out, it's possible they could not have the sizes available or have to bring them in from another store (assuming it's a chain). Which they might try to charge for.

They are, assumptively, grown men. and you're just going to have to take a step back and let them choose their choices, so to speak. I'd call the tux place and get them to tell you whether they're worried they'll run out of a size, whether they only have a few left, or whether it's a matter of a rush fee of some kind, relay that info to your FI and have him call his GMs.  They can think it's all blown out of proportion until the day of when they don't have anything to wear. It's like what a lot of people say on here, if they don't get the clothes, then they won't be standing up. That's a problem between them and your FI who is their friend that has asked them to do this for him.

  • Thanks all. I will let the 'consequences' be known so they know this is a big deal to get in right away. My FI has been out of town for the last 5 weeks and doesn't come back until a week out from the wedding so he has been fairly out of the loop with everything. We did the bulk of everything before he left but its things like this that are falling thru.

  • If they accepted the position of being in your wedding than no you are not crazy! I would be getting upset too!
