Mori Lee 1606?

I am looking for "real" brides who have bought one of the Mori Lee dresses (I love 1606).  I'm a curvy girl and it is so hard to tell from the models what it will look like (none of the bridal stores here carry her line so I'll order it online).

If you have any pictures or thoughts on Mori Lee, please share!! Thank you!

Re: Mori Lee 1606?

  • I dont know the style off hand but I am a Mori Lee bride!
Here is my dress (i have lost 11lbs since this pic and will be losing more but I love how it cinches in my waist, just gotta work on the arms and back!)

  • I bought a Mori Lee dress! 4524 from their Blu line. Is it possible for you to try on dresses in a similar style by another designer? The only reason I ask is becuase 1606  looks like it's fitted down past the hips and I hated that style on me (& drop-waist dresses too). I thought they made my hips look really wide. One of my best friends had a dress like this for her wedding and she looked awesome; I just thought it looked weird on me.

Is there any way you can take a drive to one of the stores that carry her dresses? I'm not sure when your wedding is/what your time frame is but if you have time, now that the snow should all be melting up there that may be the best thing to do. It looks like there are a few Needleman's stores in VT that carry them and a bridal store in Brattleboro. There is also a store in Concord NH. You could always call the stores beforehand to make sure they carry your dress and ask them how long it will take to come in if you order it.
  • First of all Jeremiah's Babe you look gorgeous! I love the dress! Thank you ladies for your responses.  I am 99% sure I am going to be a Mori Lee bride but you are right kgorman, I need to find a place to try on something.  Went to Needleman's last night and they didn't have any in stock in my size.  It is so hard to order online, and I am worried about the hip factor with 1606.  But I am so glad I stumbled across this designer...and 4524 is a stunning dress too!! This is such a hard decision.  :)
  • That is a beautiful dress, but I agree I would try on some similar styles before I would order something.

I had to drive 2 1/12 hours to find my Mori Lee #2401.

    Good Luck!

  • Hi,
I have ordered mori lee 1606. i am a UK 12-14 but have ordered it slightly small in a UK 12 in the hope I will lose a few pounds. You don't have to be skinny to wear this dress, it really is beautiful. It isnt what I was expecting to pick but when I tried it on it felt right! there are some really gorgeous dresses in the mori lee collection and they aren't rediculously priced either. The one shoulder strap really adds a lovely detail too. As nice as the model looks in it on the mori lee website, it is soooo much nicer in real life. I would definitely recommend this dress! : )
  • MJ&JvN, I'm interested in purchasing this dress size 2-4 also.  Do you trust ordering it online or go to the store? How much did you pay for them?
  • I just bought the 1606!  I thought and was told that this style (mermaid) would not look good on me because I am not skinny.  I tried a similar style in alfred angelo (double the price) and loved the way it made me look curvy.  I went to another bridal shop and the lady pulled this dress and it looks awesome.  It is tight all the way through the hips, but it creates an hour glass figure, the lace up back is awesome for this.  I'm 5"7 and wear a 14 nomally and got this dress in an 18

I hearing that brides have been told things like this. It's ridiculous. In my opinion, mermaid and fit and flare silhouettes are look BETTER on women who aren't "skinny". I've seen hipless gals in them and they just don't look like the right fit. No offense to any thin brides, this is just my own personal thing.

I'm looking at 1606 and my only reservation is not being able to try it on. I've tried on several mermaid gowns I'm a street size 16 with a defined hourglass figure and I like the way they look on me. Ball gowns make me look like a parade float from the waist down and empire waist dresses make me look pregnant no thanks to either LOL!
