Tuxedo Colors - HELP

We are planning a winter wedding (12/23/2011).  Our wedding colors are brown and ivory with accents of red.  The bridesmaid dresses are chocolate brown with ivory sashes and my dress is ivory.  I am not sure i like brown tuxes but i don't know if i like black tuxes with brown vests either.  Won't they clash?  i feel like brown tuxes will be totally out of style in a few years and our kids will look back at our wedding pictures and say, "EWWW."  help!

Re: Tuxedo Colors - HELP

  • I agree that brown will look dated eventually. Black tuxes with brown vests look all right, or you could have them in black tuxes with red vests. Or, you could do khaki suits with brown or red ties, if that's more your taste.
  • What about ivory vest and ties?
  • Ivory Vest and Ties with black or brown coat?
  • Black tuxes and brown dresses look fine together.  You could do ivory vests and an ivory tie with a black tux.
  • At tuxedo Junction, there is a vest that is mostly brown with black diagonal stripes.  They call it the Mystic line.  It goes really well with black jackets and blends the colors together.  might be something you look into if you have a store near you.

  • My BFF did chocolate brown dresses with black tuxes and it looked totally fine. The GMs wore black tuxes with brown ties and vests. Black goes with everything...don't do brown tuxes; not only will it look outdated in a few years, its outdated now IMHO.
  • Brown tuxes are not tuxes.  they are suits and they are not "in style" now.

There is nothing WRONG with brown suits if that is your taste...

Personally I would just go with black tuxes and black accessories and let their bouttoneers coordinate with the bridesmaids bouquets.  Or maybe give them cranberry colored pocket squares.

    Dont over think it.
