need sash advice!

Hi Everyone!

I just picked up my dress on Monday, and who knew finding a sash would be harder than the dress!

My wedding colors are spring green, reddish purple and charcoal/pewter. The bridesmaids will be wearing these J.Crew dresses in "spiced wine":http://www.jcrew.com/browse/popup_single_product_detail.jsp?jproduct=49388&imgSrc=http://s7.jcrew.com/is/image/jcrew/49388_PR5941?$pdp_fs418$&isFeatureColor=true

And while we're at it, this is my dress: http://www.ellabridals.com/dress-5571.

Anyway, I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on having a sash that doesn't not match the BMs. I definitely don't want to do purple, but would it look better if I did the sash in ivory or found something with crystals all the way around? If I did do the pewter sash I'd match my shoes and the BMs and my fiance would probably wear a pewter tie or something too.

I've been looking for pics of brides with different colored sashes from the BMs but can't find any:-(

Re: need sash advice!

  • Honestly, I hate colored sashes.  I would either get the sash you linked in ivory or find a sash that is beaded all the way around.

Colored sashes tend to "cut" a bride in half and kind of distract the eye from the rest of the dress.

Oh and I like beaded part of the sash in the second link better then the first, it just seems like it would go better with your dress.

  • Is the sash on your dress detachable, it looks like its attached to the gown. If not, I like the first sash you posted, I would keep it in a shade close to your dress color.

<div>Thanks! It is sewn in but I'm going to have it removed and replaced with a new sash when I have it altered.</div>

<div>All good points! I was attracted to the pewter because my dress is so simple I thought it added a fun pop, but maybe it is too distracting.</div>
