How do you stretch the toe of a shoe?

Hi,

I absolutely fell in love with a pair of shoes that were the right height so that I didn't need to have alterations done on the hem of the dress (ulimately came out $200 ahead on my budget...spent a little more on shoes to eliminate $300 in alterations).  They are a D'Orsay cut and unfortunately I think the shoe is going to end up amputating my right pinkie toe if I can't figure out how to stretch the shoe.  Is there anyone out there who has any suggestions on how to stretch these out in the next 11 days?

Thanks ladies!!

  • Is the inside leather?  If so, you could try spraying the inside with leather shoe stretch spray (not sure of the actual name but shoe repair places should have it) and then putting in a shoe tree that's a little wider than your foot.  That may work.  It looks like the outside is satin, and I don't think satin gives that much so you may be out of luck.

Even if the inside isn't leather, you can still try stretching it with a foot tree.  A shoe repair store may be able to help you out with other ideas.

Those are cute shoes.  Good luck!
  • If you go to the shoe repair store, they can actually stretch it for you.

  • Oh, or do a search for "two way shoe stretchers".  They're like shoe trees, but they stretch width-wise also.

  • I was gonna say a shoe repair place should be able to fix that for you. :)

  • I also recommend going to a shoe repair shop.  They can professionally stretch it for you without ruining them.

  • Can you maybe get an insert to prevent your foot from sliding down in the shoe as much, if you can keep your heel flush with the back, that should help.
  • Thanks ladies!  Something so simple...shoe repair store!  I'm looking forward to keeping my pinkie toe...I'm quite fond of it!  Smile

    Ditto!
  • You can also spray with shoe stretch and then wear it for a while-- that stretches it to your foot.
  • My mom has always used the handle of a broom or some other similarly shaped object to do this- my baby toe kind of sticks out, and we took a pair in, and saw the shoe guy do this (the thing with the broom handle type thing) and ever since, we've done our own.
  • Thanks ladies!  I have my shoes back from the repair shop and they fit beautifully!  The pinkie toe gets to live!

I hope you all have wonderful weddings and long, happy marriages!
