Should the best man's attire be different from the rest of the groomsmen?

I know that traditionally the MOH has to stand out from the other bridesmaids, but does the best man need to also stand out?

    Our BM is wearing the same pattern vest as my FI but in the same color as the other groomsmen. We gave him a tiny difference. MOH is wearing whatever dress she picks out in the color/length I requested. Since they stand closest to the B&G is is pretty easy to tell who is who.

    My BM all chose different dresses in the same color and fabric from one designer.

    My FI and all GM will be in the same morning suit and vest and they will all wear a tie of their own choosing in the color platte of the wedding.  They may do stripes, dots, etc as long as it's in the purple family.  FI wanted them to show their personalties.  

    So over all in our case everyone is different, but coordinated.

    All of our GM wore the same thing. My H wore a black tux with a diamond white shirt, vest and tie to match my diamond white dress.

      We plan to have all the GM wear the same thing. The BM will have a different boutonniere than the other GM though.

    DH wore a vest tie to "match" the ivory of my dress. BM and FOG wanted to wear bowties to stand out.  The GM wore the same black vest but ties to match the color of the BMs dresses.  It is really what you want to do, you decide.

    My bridesmaids/MOH are all wearing the same thing and holding the same colored bouquet, his groomsmen/BM are all wearing the same with the same bouts, and I have a different bouquet from my BMs and FI has a different bout from his GM.

    wow looks like everyone has something different going on!

    So far we just had our first visit to check out suits/tuxes.
    My FI wants to go with a white dinner jacket, black pants and a vest/bowtie to match my BM dresses (maroon)
    What should i do to differentiate the GM from my FI? Ties instead of bowtie? All black tuxes?  Any tips?
