Shoe Color for Dark Eggplant BM Dress

So I'm having issues with shoes for my BM's dresses.  I prefer gold but the picture that inspired my gold is with dresses that are a bit lighter than the ones I chose.  I am really happy with the color I chose since I wanted dark but it has me second guessing gold shoes.
My BMs and I like the idea of pewter shoes but I keep finding gold accessories I like for them.
Here is the pic that inspired gold shoes:

Re: Shoe Color for Dark Eggplant BM Dress

  • I would ask them to find their own gold shoes.

  • I think the gold would still look great with the darker dresses.  Otherwise, either pewter or black would work fine.  (I'm not a fan of colored shoes on bridesmaids, unless your girls might already own shoes in the right color or be likely to wear them again.)
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Thanks!  Two of my 5 bridesmaids are out of the country and another was just released from the hospital today with her newborn so they appreciate me being on the shoe search but I have asked them to contact me if they find something or have a preference. :)

  • I think gold would be fine but I would never be able to wear those shoes. Very cute but high heels and me don't mix well. GL

  • I think the gold will look nice.  Metallics are always good neutrals to have.  My girls wore purple dresses with silver shoes, largely because 3 of the 4 already had strappy silver heels.

I think this shoe is a fine suggestion, but I'd also let them keep other gold shoes in mind.

  • Money Penny 424 - I checked out your Married Bio and your arms look amazing on your wedding day :)  I'm working on toning right now so I'm always noticing arms that inspire me ;)

Yay...this poll is making me feel like gold will work!!
  • Thanks Lindze!  I did a bootcamp (not a bridal one, a hard core fitness one) and did lots of push ups and work with those big rubber tubes with handles on them.  They work wonders!

I think the gold will look beautiful with the purple!
  • Okay... I've worked in bridal for about 10 years and have dealt with such issues.  Couple of things to keep in mind.  Black shoes with dark dresses always works, There are some benefits to that as well.  A: If you aren't picky on style almost everyone has a pair of black shoes that she has broken in.  If you do want a specific style (say peeptoe) they are really easy to find at pretty much any store.  Gold shoes are fun and I think if you find a way to tie in the color such as with other accents in decorations and jewelry it will be okay.  The nice thing about pewter is that it is a combination between gold and silver so any accents will work.  If you are thinking about doing plum shoes keep in mind that find a color match will be nearly impossbile (due to fabric differences and dye lot variences) unless you have them custom dyed.  Most dyed shoes will turn your feet a lovely shade as well and they start to get warm
