Getting quotes for alterations?

There are a few places in my area that have been recommended by my officiant. I never really thought the logistics of it out but... do I just lug my dress into each shop to get quotes? Do I make an appointment for that or do I just pop in? And how far in advance of actual alterations should this be done? Now (I'm 4 months out) or closer to time?

I'm so lost!

First, check with your local board for recommendations close to you.

And yes you would have to lug it in to each place, so they can see exactly what it might need done. So, narrow it down to a couple. And you will need to call and make an appointment as well as find out what timeline they would recommend. Most people start this at around 2 months before the wedding.Good Luck.
